In Memory Of

Patrick Joseph Quinn age 86 of Helena

September 7, 1927 – April 8, 2014

Patrick Joseph Quinn, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Helena, surrounded by loving family members. He was born on September 7, 1927, in Butte, to Patrick and Margaret (McCarthy) Quinn.

Pat received his early education at St. Lawrence Grade School, and graduated from Butte High School in the class of 1945.  Following graduation he served in Germany as part of the U.S. Army.  When he returned to Montana, he worked as a telegraph operator for the railroad in Three Forks, Montana.  Then he moved to Helena and spent 32 years working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. Pat married Patricia “Jim” Simkins on February 11, 1961.  They were married for 52 years.

Pat was an extremely generous and kind man with a delightful sense of humor. He and his family loved the outdoors.  They bought a cabin on Canyon Ferry Lake with the Lieberg family and spent many enjoyable summers boating, waterskiing and throwing horseshoes.  His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandsons, Michael and Sean.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Florence Rebich Quinn; son, Michael Patrick Quinn; brother, Jackie Quinn; sisters, Marie Carey, Irene Colenso, Jean Quinn (his twin); brother-in-law Elmer Rebich; sisters-in-law Pauline Rebich and Shirley Reardon; brothers and sisters-in-law Bud and Evelyn Hay, and Carol and Betty Lieberg; nephews, John Carey, Patrick (Liz) Carey, and Michael Rebich; and nieces, Lois Colenso and Barb Simkins.

Pat is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Jim” Quinn; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Patrick Rillahan; grandsons, Michael and Sean Rillahan; brother, Dr. James and Dorothy Quinn; brothers-in-law Carl Rebich, Willie Colenso and Joe Reardon; sisters-in-law Mary Fran McLeod and Irene Rebich; brothers and sisters-in-law, Les and Kim Simkins, Clint and Karen Simkins, Bob and Marlene Simkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the wonderful staff at St. Peter’s Hospital where he always received excellent, loving care.
