Paul Warren Wood
Known to most as Warren, passed away the morning of July 2, 2018 at his lifelong home surrounded by family and friends. He was age 95.
Born May 4, 1923 to Paul and Bessie (Bompart) Wood. He attended 1 room school houses in McClellan Creek area, later graduating high school in Helena. He sewed in WWII, in the European Theater with Co. A 319th Infantry 80th Div., where he received the Purple Heart medal. Upon returning he tried some college, but soon returned to the family farm and ranch, raising grain, hay and beef cattle, also running a dairy herd until the early 60’s.
In 1955, he met and later married Patricia Chapman on October 19, 1955 at the Deaconess Chapel in Helena, MT. Together they built a house and a family.
He actively ranched until a fractured pelvis at age 85 made him decide to leave the cow work to others, while he tended to his home and yard. He still loved his animals, horses, dogs, and in later years the five cats that trailed him everywhere he went.
He was a good friend, a great husband and father. We are glad he is at peace but will dearly miss him and remember him always.
He is preceded in death by wife, Patricia Wood. He is survived by sons, Douglas, David (Catherine) of Helena and friend who was like a daughter, Karen Doig; nieces Ann (Rodger) Stradley, Jean Chalmers, nephew, David Chalmers and great nieces Ann and Lora Stradley.

Mike Ottman says
Our thoughts and prayers are with Warren and his family. He was a special man and I first met Warren and his wife in the fall of 1987. They worked hard on the ranch and were great stewards of the land. His sons Doug, David and family have and will carry on the great tradition of the ranch. The Ottman Family
