Obituary for Paula D Simmons-Coleman
It is with deep sorrow and profound joy that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Paula Coleman, who left us on February 7th at the age of 84. Her heart and lungs were unable to withstand the stress of the most recent Flu. She passed peacefully in the presence of loved ones at St. Pete’s hospital in Helena.
Paula was born in Red Lodge, Montana on August 8, 1940. She was the first child of Hubert and Pauline Simmons. She graduated from Red Lodge High School in 1958 and then attended the University of Montana where she met her husband, John Coleman. After graduating from the U of M Paula and John moved to Helena, where they had two boys (Jeff & Brian) and lived until their divorce in 1975.
In addition to being a mother, Paula’s favorite job was being a teacher at Capital High. She inspired countless students with her passion for learning. She taught History and Government and was involved in many teams, groups and clubs at CHS. She loved sports and music the most.
As a cherished member of the community, Paula embodied the values of kindness, compassion, and faith. Her unwavering commitment to her Christian beliefs guided her life and impacted the lives of those around her. She found joy in sharing her faith and volunteered at New Life Lutheran Church, touching the hearts of many.
Paula is survived by her sons Jeff & Brij, daughter-in-law Kirstin, 7 grandchildren (Titus, Dominic, Melia, Michael, Justus, Brice & Bo) and her beloved of 13 years Marc DePeo, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She was preceded by her parents Hugh and Polly Simmons, her brother Lee Simmons, husband John Coleman and her Granddaughter Taya Coleman
A Memorial Service with a lunch to follow will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 28 at New Life Lutheran Church, 5980 N Montana Ave, Helena. She will be profoundly missed but remembered for the love and light she brought into the world.

Mikal Wilkerson says
I love Paula and her family, HUGE part of my growing up years. Always felt loved and accepted when I was around her. If there is a place for angels after this life she will definitely be among them as that is how she rolls.
