Penny Sue Lewellen, age 54, passed away June 30th, 2013 while camping, from heart complications.
Penny was born in Tampa, FL on October 19th, 1958 to John and Connie Lewellen. She always brought joy with her wherever she was. Penny met her soul mate, Scott Rickman in 2010. They would spend most weekends at the Rickman Family property on the Boulder River near Basin. Penny soon realized how much she loved to camp, she loved riding her four-wheeler and was always on the hunt for the next big mud puddle, so she could zoom through it with a splash!
She took great joy in her two little dogs, Duke, who liked to go riding with her, and Katie, who was most content on her lap. All family and friends loved Penny for her joy of life, her humor and her excellent cooking. Penny’s love was always for her family and she spoke of them often. On Penny’s last weekend, she was busily planning for the upcoming 4th of July holiday; she was so excited that her family was coming. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She was truly the greatest mother any child could ever ask for. In Penny’s own words, “Life Is Great!” and we will honor her life in that same spirit.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents John and Connie Lewellen.
Survivors include: the love of her life Scott Rickman; her children Anthony L. Scott, Micheal A. Scott and Johnna S. Gard; her brothers Tom, Ted and Duane Lewellen; and also her grandchildren Madisyn S. Gard and Justice J. Gard.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. , July 3, 2013 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave, Helena, MT. A memorial service celebrating Penny’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at the family’s home; 34 East Frontage Road, Basin, MT 59631.

May God lessen the sorrow on your family/friends or increase their capacity to carry it. I told you, in one of our online conversations, that my mother told me one day, when we were kids in that little rural Indiana town we came out of, that because of your deep brown eyes and golden blonde hair you were a “rare beauty.” Not many have that genetic combination. Through your lifetime those who knew you well would say the same – that you were a rare beauty ~ inside and out. That is your legacy. God rest you well now, Penny Sue.
