Perkins, William “Bill” John,
William “Bill” John Perkins, 62 went to be with the lord as he joins his parents Anna & John “Perk or Jack” Arthur Perkins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Charles Todd.
Bill was born in Helena, Montana on May 16, 1950. He was the youngest of three children, a brother Robert and a sister Joy. Upon graduating from Helena High, Bill joined the armed forces and was stationed in Warner Robins, Gain Radio Tech which allowed him to travel to Thailand. He became a sergeant in the 5th Mobile Command Group.
He and his first wife, Judith Marie welcomed a daughter Sarah Louise Perkins in the summer of 1972. After splitting with his first wife he wed Judy Ann and they had two sons, John Tyler and Ryan William. During this time he lived a short while in California. Upon returning to Montana he and his mom joined forces in establishing North American Van Lines. Eventually Bill became employed by Helena Post Office.
Bill wed Marsha Lee in 2000 and added two step sons, Aaron and Dan.
Bill was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Everywhere from the Little Black Foot River to Newlan Creek in White Sulpher to Spring Meadow. Another favorite were the trips toFlathead Lake with Marsha to visit her family and enjoy the fishing. When not outdoors you could find him watching a western movie or hanging in the garage that he built withTyler. Bill tinkered around a lot even though his projects often overcame his wisdom. His favorite watering hole went from The Red Meadow to Jesters. “Everyone knew his name” could sum up the special bond with his Jester’s family. As one bar tender remembers she would look forward to Bill coming by after work and watching Jerry Springer. Bill was a kind hearted and patient man who had a soft spot for all kids. He also put everyone else’s needs before his own often rescuing those without transportation.

Marsha,
I am so sad to here about Bill. We grew up together from Emerson & Central School to Helena High and the Air Force. we used to steal his dad’s Buick and knocked the motor out going over “Thrill Hill” one night. We were hit by a drunk driver going to the Ski High Drive In one night and landed upside down in his convertable. 45 years later still have a bump on my head! I live in Phoenix and don’t get home often, but will never forget growing up with Bill, our South Side neiborhood, Gurtie Burgers, and “crusing the drag”. Mostly I remember Bill’s warm smile, witty sence of humor, and his beautiful heart. I will miss him!
God Bless,
Freddie Wong
