Phil was a 1959 graduate of St Thomas Military Academy in St Paul, MN. I was a classmate of Phil’s. In Dec. of 2018, I began a project putting together a group email of surviving classmates of our class of 140. The final students were added in the last few days, talking to one of them yesterday Dennis Jones, Sidney, Mt.I mentioned that I had not been able to locate Phil over a several month period, and through information, Dennis provided I found this obituary. I have taken the liberty of sharing it with the 61 classmates on the email list, we were all a close group those many years ago, and all will remember Phil at some level as I have. I am so sorry I was not able to locate him sooner. The photo I am sharing is Phil’s graduation photo taken in the Spring of 1959. ,.Rest in Peace Phil

My favorite memory with Uncle Phil is when Jerry and I went to visit him at the lake in the summer of 1994. I was expecting my first baby. Phil and his buddie Keith would play Pinnacle with Jerry and I each evening. Phil and Keith would annihilate us every game! Being extremely competitive at cards I would lay awake at night and replay the games in my mind and I figured out how they were winning. They would pass clues to each other to let the other know what “strong” suite they had. They would reference love for hearts, garden tool spade for spades, new puppy for clubs, stars for diamonds etc… When I confronted Phil the next morning he laughed and laughed so hard!!! I told him that we were splitting the teams up. I made this chocolate peanut-butter cup dream pie one night for dessert and Phil loved it. One thing about Phil he loved to eat late, we would start cooking like 8 PM and eat by 10 PM. It was such a blast spending time with Phil at the Lake! Phil will have lots of family pinnacle players in Heaven! Love you Phil….
