In Memory Of

Quent Michael Gary

March 22, 1964 – June 29, 2010

“God decided Quent fought hard enough so he stretched out his loving arms on June 29, 2010, and Quent followed him home for peace.

Quent resided in Jefferson City.

Quent Michael Gary was born to Larry and Mary (Cullinan) Gary on March 22, 1964, in Glendive. When he was 2 years old, the family moved to New Braunfels, Texas. He attended first grade in New Braunfels. In the fall of 1971 the family returned to Glendive.

Quent’s childhood days through high school were filled with baseball, basketball, football, track, water and snow skiing. Quent was an avid athlete, and he excelled in every sport he played. He enjoyed working on vehicles at his family’s dealership. He was without a doubt mechanically skilled.

Quent graduated from Dawson County High School in 1982. He continued his education and graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Eastern Montana College in Billings.

Quent married Linda Witten and from that union had a daughter, Ashley Michael, in 1989. Later the couple divorced.

Quent was an avid sportsman, from his youth through his adult years, playing golf and playing in pool league with his brothers. He cherished times taking Ashley boating, hunting, camping and fishing, truly teaching her all the beauty the great outdoors had to offer. He valued time with family and friends, whether work or play. He had a strong love for animals and his two dogs, Buck and Oreo, were great companions.

Quent had an array of jobs throughout his life, all at which he exceeded the standards. He was an auto mechanic and later worked in auto sales. He worked for Round Up Powder and ICI Explosives as an explosives technician for mines in Montana, South Dakota and Washington states.

After leaving the explosives line of work, Quent ascertained the knowledge and skills to become a medical imaging repair technician. He worked for DMS Health Technologies and Montana Territorial X-ray.

Quent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Phyllis Gary and Lott and Grace Cullinan.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary Gary of Clancy; daughter, Ashley (Jared) Vogl of Lehi, Utah; brothers, Troy Gary (Karen) of Helena and Travis Gary of Jefferson City; sister, Kelly (Michael) Ries of Clancy; grandson, Jake Lee, whom he never had the pleasure of seeing or holding. He is also survived by nieces, Skyler and Alexis; nephews, Shane and Collin; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Rev. Kevin O’Neill of the Cathedral of St. Helena celebrated a prayer service with family on July 3 at the Retz Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation was under the care of Retz Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society in Quent’s name or to a charity of the donor’s choice. To offer a condolence to Quent’s family or to share a memory of Quent, please visit www.retzfuneralhome.com.

Quent was a loving and kind man. We will always love and miss him deeply. There is a great comfort from God knowing he is no longer in pain or suffering.”
