Rachel Cabello Lea unexpectedly passed away into glory on April 22, 2013, of natural causes. She was born in Ovid Colorado on April 11, 1938 to Guadalupe (Gomez) and Odilon Menchaca Cabello. The family moved to various farms in Nebraska; Oshkosh, Ogallala, Big Springs and Broadwater. They bought a farm in Broadwater and she graduated high school in 1956.
Rachel worked in Corpus Cristi Texas, then in 1958 moved to Helena while working at Western Life. In August 1958, she met Marine; Miner Robert Edmund Lea. After he left for Bremerton WA and returned they married October 31, 1958. They both became ministers of the Gospel. They moved to Nebraska at Bridgeport where their first son Robert Earl Lea was born. In 1962 they moved to Helena and homesteaded their home on land they had bought earlier. Four more children were all born in Helena; Deborah Genevieve Lea (Roope), Aaron Odilon Lea, Michelle Marie Lea (Sargent), and Nathanael Quintin Lea.
They founded an orphanage in Mexico with Rachel’s parents. She was a woman of great faith sharing 54 years of marriage with her husband Miner Robert Edmund Lea, carpenter and contractor, the marriage was a complete success. They had many family, friends and converts in America and Mexico. Their hobbies were movies and music; DVD’s, Records and CD’s along with reading Christian books and Biblical research. Rachel was a wonderful seamstress making clothes for her children and enjoyed making flower arrangements and craft items. Rachel and Miner were working on a book of their life’s testimony and Christian interpretation of the Bible which Miner will continue to complete.
The joy of Rachel’s life was being with her family as she loved them all so very much. She spent her life ministering, praying, singing, feeding, clothing and caring for them in all practical and spiritual ways. She made many happy with cakes she created for their birthdays and showered them with gifts. Rachel was loved by all and all will feel a great void as they long to be with her again in eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as is promised in John 3:16.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Miner Robert Edmund Lea; her children, Robert Lea Jr., Debbie (Gary) Roope (Lea), Aaron (Jonna) Lea, Michelle Sargent (Lea) and Nathanael Lea; her 11 grandchildren, Trent Scheuer, Jeremiah, Jacen and Robert Roope, Tiffany Pouliot, Cindi, Angel and Kristin Lea, Jonathan and Rachel Hamlin, and Destin Lea; her 11 Great Grand Children, David and Keaton Pouliot, Lucidity, Chimera, and Hinata Blair, ElloRrah Napier, Genesis Lea, Ellie Williams, Kamryn Beckworth, and Bailey and Imriel Gomes; siblings; Joe (Esther) Cabello, Phillip Cabello, Angie (Ken) Johnson, Martha (Bert) Bauer, and Tony (Corlina) Cabello; and many nieces and nephews.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! Rachel was such a nice person, so kind. Remembering our days on Rodney Street when your family used to visit the Allinson family.
Please take care and know we are thinking of you! God Bless!
Barb Hamlin says
To Bob and all of the Lea children, my heartfelt sympathies go out to all of you. I know the emptiness you feel, as I lost my big brother only a short while ago, too. She is happy where she is now, and with no more pain or stress, I know she will forever live in your hearts. You will always have the precious memories you shared, take care.
Debbie Roope says
I love and miss my mom more than I can ever express. I truly believe I will be with her once my time comes to leave my earthly body, in the mean time, I rely on the faith she instilled in me; to believe, count on and depend on God’s mercy and love. To talk to and depend on Jesus Christ my Savior and to invite the Holy Spirit into my daily living, forever dying to myself and living for Christ. The Trinity; The Father God, The Son Jesus and The Holy Spirit; Three in One, are life giving and are the Hope of Glory.
This portion of scripture below is what will get me through:
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me. Philippians 1:20-26
I love you mom.
Your daughter,
Debbie Genevieve Roope
Sue Foreman says
Debbie: Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” My prayer will be that the heaviness in your and your families heart will be such that you can bear, and that over time the wonderful memories of such a great parent will be what comforts you. After reading her obituary; I thought, what a glorious tribute a family can give to a parent – she must have been amazing. I will be thinking of you often and of the great loss you and your family have suffered.
