Ramona (Mona) Beatrice Brooks passed away on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 St. Peters Hospital, Helena, Montana. She was born on September 21st, 1935 in Monroe, Washington. She grew up on the family farm with her father and mother, Lloyd Knapp and Irene (Elwell), (Knapp) Peckham, two brothers, and one sister. She enjoyed the daily chores on the farm such as milking cows, feeding the chickens, helping with bringing in the hay in the summer and spending as much time riding her horses.
Mona grew up and attended school in Nespelem, Washington. She went to college in Everett, Washington, to start nursing school. She took a break from her school career, got married and had 5 children. The family moved around in the Washington and Oregon area and eventually ended up in Oregon City, OR. Mona went back to school and received her degree as an LPN. She worked as a nurse for almost 30 years. After retirement Mona moved to Montana to be closer to her youngest son Mark Booth and his family. Mona enjoyed riding horses, being outdoors, camping and diving back roads, playing cards, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mona was a very special lady and everyone that knew her loved her.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Knapp, Irene Peckham, her brother Darrell Knapp, and late husband Ron Brooks. She is survived by her sister Anita Ellingsworth and brother Mel Knapp; special friend Darrell Baum; five children Rob (Linda) Booth, Joni (Ed) Ahrens, Mike (Stacey) Booth, Darren Booth, and Mark (Sandy) Booth; and thirteen grandchildren, Robbie Booth, Michael Booth, John Booth, Jenny Booth, Andy (Lydia) Ahrens, Phillip (Anna) Ahrens, Amy (Ahrens) (Daniel) Wakefield, Johnathan (Grace) Ahrens, Daniel Ahrens, Julianna Ahrens, Ian Booth, Hayden Booth, and Melanie Booth and six great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beehive Homes and Big Sky Care Center for the care they provided Mona at the end of her life. We are forever grateful for the love and compassion she was shown.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring of 2019 in Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of choice.
