On May 17, 2015, Raymond “Rick” Dean Strobel went to a new home in heaven after a brief battle with cancer. Rick was born in Terry, Montana on October 29, 1943 to Oscar Strobel and Breta Lena Hendrickson. He was the second oldest out of eight children.
Rick married Betty Seela and they had two daughters, Christine and Kelley. In 1973 he married Lorretta Ann Westover. He always liked to tell the story about how they first met in Eastern Montana when they were 12. They were married for 37 years. Rick and Lorretta had two children, Chine and Rick.
Rick had many different jobs over the years. Including; the Air Force, salesperson, logging, construction, tile layer, carpet maker and supervisor at the ASARCO. He held himself to a high standard and expected that of the people he worked with. He also liked socializing with friends and family by playing cribbage, pinnacle, and horse shoes over the occasional beer.
Rick loved his family and loved the State of Montana. For him there was no place like Montana. He loved hunting, fishing and camping and he liked taking his family across the state, fishing the high-line stopping at every lake, river and stream that might have fish in it. His favorite destinations were Canyon Ferry Reservoir, Fort Peck Reservoir and Terry, Montana. No one could filet a fish like Rick.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Breta, bothers-in-law Jerry Woodward and Gene Westover; sister-in-law Minny Edna Westover, mother-in-law and fathers-in-law Walter Westover, Minny Muriel Westover and nephew, Water Woodward.
Rick is survived by his ex-wife Lorretta, his siblings; Bob (Jeanne) Strobel, Merril (Rosanne) Strobel, Greg (Donna) Strobel, Tim Strobel, Sharon (Lee) Houser, Karen (Curt) Golson and Kathy (John) Muir; his children; Christine (Jerry) Keith, Kelley (Michael) Redmond, Chine (Marty) Strobel, Rick (Bridget) Strobel and ex daughter-in-law Kassi Hartnett; grandchildren, Amanda Keith, Emily Keith, Terry Strobel, Michael Strobel, Kortni Strobel, Derrek Strobel, Margaret Simonson, Ronald Simonon Jr. and Tyler Redmond. Also, lots of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his beloved cat Sally.

To the Family of Raymond Dean Strobel. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one, Rick. May the God of comfort heal your heart. The passing of someone you love can be a very hard thing to deal with. I hope you can find comfort in the promise of the resurrection mentioned in the Bible at John 5:28&29. Sincerely, Fredda jw.org

To Rick’s family
We at Papa Rays will miss Rick. When he would stop by for a cold one he always had news of the day. We will remember his smile and laughter,no matter what the subject. God bless.
