On May 6, 2013, Rebecca (Becky) Ann Petkewich passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena as a result of complications from diabetes. Rebecca was 38 years old.
Rebecca was born in Rochester, Minnesota on July 19, 1974. She was the third daughter of Joseph Petkewich and Alexis Carlson Curry.
Becky moved to Helena with her parents at a young age and attended Helena schools. In high school she was active in Job’s Daughters and served a term as their Honored Queen. She graduated from Helena High School in 1992. Shortly after graduation, she moved to New York City where she worked as a nanny for many years. Becky loved living in the New York City area and learned to navigate the city like a pro. She made many friends while she lived there, and especially enjoyed spending time with her Long Island cousins.
Becky gave birth to a son, Corinthian Koger, in 2003, and shortly afterward returned to Helena to attend Maddio’s College of Cosmetology, where she earned her license to become a hairdresser. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Becky worked for many years as a hairdresser in Helena at several local salons. Most recently, Becky operated the salon in the Eagle’s Manor. Becky loved being a hairdresser and enjoyed all her clients, particularly her retired clients living in the Eagle’s Manor.
Becky gave birth to her daughter, Chloe Koger, in 2004. Becky was a devoted mother who took great pride in both her children. She loved fashion, and any opportunity to go shopping. She collected giraffes. She was a good cook, and was the only grandchild who perfected Grandma Tommie’s famous dinner rolls.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alexis Carlson Curry; and her grandparents, Lillan (Tommie) and Oscar (Ole) Carlson, and John and Mary Petkewich.
She is survived by her children, Corinthian and Chloe Koger; her partner, James Koger; her sister, Mandy Petkewich (Joe); her sister, Emily Kohring (Eric); her brother, Colin Curry; her father, Joseph Petkewich (Robin); her stepfather, John Curry; her stepsisters, Larisa (Freddy)Bartoletti and and Lindy (Martin) Coonen;
and her niece, Ella Kohring.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Community at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 with a reception to follow at the Eagles Lodge, 801 N. Fee Street in Helena. A memorial fund has been established in care of Chloe and Corinthian at the Helena Community Credit Union, 915 Kessler St., Helena, MT 59601. Bec was one of my oldest and dearest friends. We have known each other since the second grade……she was a bridesmaid in my wedding……….and one of my best friends.
Becky had the most beautiful smile…..and her laugh was the best. The world seems a bit more dark now without her in it. She will be greatly missed by so many. I have some many memories of her and I, my heart is broken for her babies and for her family. She is gone too soon. My God grant peace and comfort to her family and friends in this time.

A little piece of me died with Becky on Tuesday. She was one of my best friends, and very important to a lot of people. We shared a lot over the years, and I will never forget her beautiful smile, the way she lit up a room, and her caring disposition. She loved her children more than anything, and was an amazing mom.
I love you, Becky, and I will miss you – but you will NEVER be forgotten.

Becky was a friend that anyone was lucky to have, I was lucky enough to call her my best friend. She really put her heart into being a really TRUE friend. Becky bent over backwards if she knew she could help someone, or in my case in our friendship. She will always be in my heart and in my thoughts. Becky loved her children so so much, they meant the world to her. She also was very close to her family and and loved them all dearly. She was taken so soon, at least she left her pain behind. I will always always love her.

Chloe and Corinthian, she loved you so much! my sorrow can’t compare to that of the family’s. living next door to Tommie, then Lex and John, it was so fun to have the kids come over. I am praying that God will ease your sorrow with happy memories.

I remember the first time I met Becky. I went to my dads house to visit, and was told that my sister had brought a friend home. I thought, “Oh well, I like all of her friends, so this one shouldn’t be any different!” I was sitting at the kitchen table visiting, when I heard someone coming in the kitchen. When I turned to see who had come in, all I can remember seeing was HUGE hair, and an even bigger smile. Not knowing who I was, and I don’t even think caring, she walked up to me and gave me a hug, and said, “Hi! I’m Becky!” from that moment on, I adored that young lady. She was so easy to get along with, and a very loving and compassionate person. Rest, Miss Becky. you will be missed
