Renee Lynn Garrett Rogers was born April 26, 1969 on a beautiful spring day in Helena, MT. Renee left us unexpectedly on Christmas Day 2015, from an acute asthma attack.
Renee was a free spirit, and her free spirit showed before she was born. After three trips to the hospital, Renee decided it was time to bless her parents, Richard (Dick) and Cheryl Garrett with her presence and a blessing she was.
We will all remember Renee for her love of flowers, she loved to garden and that probably stemmed from her birth on that beautiful spring day. As a child she loved to fish, fly kites and play baseball with her brother Rick and she also enjoyed playing her violin.
Renee was very strong willed, so strong willed she was the only girl on the baseball team. Renee also loved to perform with the Razzle Dazzles; she was so excited and honored to perform in Salt Lake City at The Salt Palace. Renee was an excellent student; she was selected to read her essay on Government at the State Capital.
After graduating from Helena High School, she went on to receive a Bachelors in Science of Psychology from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT. Shortly after her graduation she moved to Salmon, Idaho and worked as a Social Worker for several years. Later returning to Montana, Butte Montana to be exact, Renee continued to follow her passion as a Social Worker and continually reach out to help others. With Renee’s strong drive and dedication to her education she completed her Master Business Administration (MBA) at Walden University. However she did not stray from her Social work. Renee was very dedicated to her clients and co-workers, and Social Work was definitely her passion as far as her career.
Renee lived life to the fullest. She loved all her family and friends very much. Although the true loves of her life was her two sons, Dacota Rogers who was born in 1992 and is 23, and Joey who was born in 2002 and is 13. Dacota lives in California, and Joe who will now be residing with his father Brad Atkins here in Helena. In 2008 Renee married Julian Seger and later divorced.
Renee is preceded in death by Grandparents Harold and Margaret Garrett of Helena, Grandmother Shirley Diamond of Townsend and her Uncle Dan Davy of Missoula. She is survived by her parents, Dick and Cheryl Garrett of Helena, brother Rick Garrett (Renee) of Winston, sister Rinda Morgan of Helena; her beloved sons Dacota Rogers of California and Joey Atkins of Helena, Grandmother Peggy Byrne of Kalispell, 4 nieces; Kaselin Garrett Handcock (Larry) of Butte, Dezstiny Brennan of Helena, Jaden Garrett of Sacramento, and Cheyenne Morgan of Miles City, 1 nephew Seth Brennan of Wyoming, 2 Great Nephews and 1 Great Niece of Butte, several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and many friends all of who she loved very much.

To: Garrett Family,
Although I have not been in touch with Renee for many years, I have thought of her and your family often. I have so many fun, silly, happy and fond memories of Renee. We laughed together, cried together and of course got in trouble together in middle school and high school. I always had a great time with Renee. I had so much fun when you opened your home to us girls, to be our crazy and probably really loud selves. I have read all the wonderful things people have said about her in her adult life and I am not at all surprised that she touched so many lives. She always had a heart for those around her but she especially had a heart for those that had it a little harder in life. She is a beautiful soul. May God look down on all her family in this time of loss.

To Renee’s family & friends,
I was so shocked and saddened to read about Renee’s passing. I only knew her a short time while she helped my sister, but I felt like I knew her longer. She was a very kind-hearted woman and it really struck me how she went beyond her job duties to help those in need. She was really a blessing to my sister in how she reached out to help her and it meant alot to me and my Mom. She will be missed by so many people. I am praying for your family during this difficult time, that God will bring you comfort and healing in your hearts. ~Kim

Cheryl, Dick and Family,
I am shocked and saddened to hear about Renee. Although I haven’t seen her for many years, I have fond memories of her during Middle School and High School. Her friendship with both of my daughters and the many wonderful trips we took with the Razzle Dazzles will never be forgotten. Watching her perform, along with the other girls, and her excitement at each performance and the accomplishments made will forever be ingrained in my heart. May the good Lord comfort you and bring you peace during this difficult time and your memories sustain you in the days ahead.
