Richard D. Burk (Dick)
Dick passed away June 23, 2014. He was the son of Leon and Dorthy Burk of Great Falls, MT born August 28, 1930. Dick was the youngest of three boys, William, James and Richard.
Dick was raised in Great Falls, MT as a youth he developed a love for hockey playing for the Great Falls Americans. At 21, Dick joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and serviced on the USS Helena until 1955. In the fall of 1965 he married Mary (Stotts) and moved to Helena to raise their family. Dick worked at SCM until 1973. From 1973-1996 they owned and operated Lil Dix’s Korner Bar in East Helena, making so many dear and lifelong friends. Dick enjoyed his retirement years traveling south, golfing, and watching hockey and stock car races. He enjoyed taking part in helping to raise Belle, the youngest of his grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Dorthy, brothers William from Pasco, WA and James (Lois) Burk from Helena, infant daughter Jami Burk of Great Falls.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Burk of Helena, children Danny (Cindy) Burk of Helena, Steve Burk of Bozeman, Robin Burk and (Neal Block) of Helena, nephew Adam Burk of Great Falls, niece Jaci Burk of Pasco, WA, grandchildren Jami (Troy) Wood of Boulder, Dan (Kim) Burk of Helena, David (Shemiah) Burk of Helena, Jason (Crystal) Burk of Belgrade, Gibb Gibson of CA, Lacey Chambers of Lolo, Belle Burk of Helena, 12 great grandchildren, and many great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service celebrating Dick’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue. Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison following the memorial service. A reception will follow the burial at the East Helena VFW. 117 W. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dick’s name are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, c/o MT Supporting Soldiers, P.O. Box 4964 Helena, MT 59604 or the Helena Youth Hockey Association, P.O. Box 5022, Helena Montana 59604.
