Richard Graham McMillan passed away at the age of 84 on March 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born to Robert and Mary McMillan (MaRick) in Butte, Montana and was raised in Helena, Montana. He attended Hawthorne Grade School and Cathedral High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for four years. During his service, Richard was stationed on the USS enterprise, which was the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, and was part of the Cuban blockade.
Following his military service, Richard worked at Associated Foods and Helena Foodshare. Upon retirement, he dedicated his time to what he loved most – volunteering at the VA, which he did up until the time of his passing.
Richard had a deep love for fishing, traveling, and spending time outdoors. He cherished the special moments he shared camping and riding his razor.
Richard met his wife Vicki in June of 1970. They fell in love and married on December 31, 1970. Richard is survived by his three children: Stephanie Ransier, Ami Matlock (Jim), and Chris McMillan (Kasi); His brother Joe McMillan (Karen) and his sister Cathy Gwaltney. He was also blessed with five grandchildren, Matthew (Athalie), Cody (Cecila), Burt (Sammy), Jaden (Kristen) and Jordan, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki McMillan; his father, Robert Russell McMillan; his mother Mary McMillan (MaRick); his brothers, Robert and Thomas McMillan; and his sister, Lois Schmidt.

A graveside service will be held on 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Forestvale Cemetery located at 490 Forestvale Road in Helena. Immediately following the graveside service, there will be a reception held in the Entry hall of the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds located at 98 West Custer Avenue.
