Richard “Pete” LaPier, Jr.
Richard “Pete” LaPier, Jr. passed away after an extended illness on his 65th birthday, April 17, 2017 in Great Falls, surrounded by his loving wife, daughters, siblings and grandchildren.
He loved camping, fishing and hunting with his family, old westerns, music, movies and books. He was a man of many trades – Logging, mining, truck driving, and excavating.
Born in Helena, MT at St. John’s Hospital on April 17, 1952, and stayed in Helena and around the Helena area most of his life. He was a loving and caring man and family was very important to him.
He is preceded in death with his father Richard “Babe” LaPier Sr., mother Mabel J. LaPier, brother Willie LaPier, and sister Grace Glass.
Richard “Pete” will be missed by surviving wife Roberta LaPier of Helena; children Becky (Jeff) Pronteau of East Helena, Catherine (Gary) Russell of Helena, Richard LaPier of Denver Co. and Melissa Rodriguez of Denver, Amy (Ross) Fillmore of Helena. Sisters Jean (Mark) Zabrocki of Havre, MT, Mary Jane Phillips of Michigan, Sylvia LaPier of Idaho, and brother Danny (Terrie) LaPier of Colorado. Surviving grandchildren include: Tessa (Patrick) Jackson, Kaylie (Jordan) Karr, Matthew and Kassie Dundas, April Russell, Jacob and Brandon Pronteau, Richard E. LaPier, Sydney Donahue Seth Fillmore, Jonathan and Alejandra Rodriguez of Denver and surviving great grandchildren include: Leila Henry, Daken Jackson, and Christopher Karr.
Other survivors include Monique (Kevin) Legg Phillip and Patrick Legg, Mikey Phillips, Angie (Jason) Bennett, Jessica (Doug) Taylor, Jason Phillips and Brandi (Tim) Frey.

Many years have passed since I last saw Pete when he had been on a road trip with Roy Belgarde and they stopped by our home here in Calif. He was such a kind, funny, and happy young man back then.
