I remember going to see Grandpa on his farm in Montana as a child. We got to play in the barn and ride horses. I remember him making us homemade ice cream. I have many fond memories from that trip. He will be missed.

I remember my uncle Richard as a strong quiet gentle man, yet physically fit for the rugged outdoor life, a rancher at heart living in the Big sky country of Montana, bucking hay in his 70s, his love of horses ands ponies, a good sense of humor shining through with that age old wisdom. The last time I saw he and Aunt Mary alive was when I went back to see cousin John in Butte. We drove ever to Helena one afternoon for a visit. After Aunt Mary died and cousin Susan had her accident Uncle Richard moved to Oakland Oregon to live with cousin Nancy and her family. I regret that I did not make it down there for a visit it being only a hundred or so miles south of Eugene.
When Linda and I were growing up Mom and Dad drove to Beaver Creek and we visited the family when they lived on the farm and Richard was working at Morell’s packing plant. I got to ride on the horses and ponies. It was a big thrill for me. May Uncle Richard go in peace to join Aunt Mary and his brother Verne and my dad’s sister, Aunt Gladys.

We are so sorry for the loss of your dad/grandpa. I didn’t know him but when I look at his picture I am reminded of Joe.
Whitney Benson says
I remember I loved going over to Grandpa and Grandmas house on Spokane Creek Road and getting to help out with the chores. Grandpa would let me go with him when he would feed the miniature horses and I would get to feed all the cats that would be in the shed by the garage. There are so many great memories that I have of grandpa that it is hard to put them all down. I just know that I will never forget them and that I will miss Grandpa very much.

Larry and Susan: I remember with fondness the days at the East Helena United Methodist Church as your families were involved in the building and development of the congregation and new church building. The Davises were great friends and and such good people–kind, generous, loyal and people of faith. Great memories! Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Richard. The last of Mom’s brothers has gone to be with the rest of the family. Each of them has left people that love and will miss them. But I am sure that they are happy to see the people that have gone before. Please know that my prayers are with all of your family.
