Rich was an active member in many organizations that served the community. His passion was as member of the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department which became Tri-Lakes Volunteer Fire Department in 2006. He joined as a volunteer firefighter in 1991 retiring in 2003 when he was elected to the Board of Trustees where he served as Chairman until last month. He absolutely loved being a part of the volunteer department and serving the residents of the area. He focused on the needs and welfare of the volunteer firefighters and EMTs making sure they had what they needed to complete their mission safely.
Rich spent as much time as possible with his two local grandsons, Dillon and Alex. He never missed a football, baseball, or hockey game. Whatever event they were in, Papa and Grandma were there cheering them on.
Toni and the entire family would like to thank Dr. Wampler, Dr. Thomas, and the nurses and staff at St. Peters Hospital Cancer Treatment Center for their caring and kind treatment of Rich. Most of all they want to thank their numerous life-long friends for their caring and support, and the many years of fun, laughter, and joy.
