In Memory Of

Robert “Bob” J. Crants, age 85, of Helena

September 4, 1937 – January 1, 2023

Robert “Bob” James Crants of Helena, at the age of 85, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

After graduating from high school with Honors, Bob attended the University of Montana. His math skills led him to a lifetime career with the Montana State Highway Department.

Bob married Evelyn, the love of his life in 1957. Because of Bob’s lifetime membership in Scouting, Elks, and Kiwanis, Bob was loved by many and loved many. His devotion to giving and offering a helping hand made him an angel on earth. His lasting friendships showed the testament of good life.

Bob was preceded in passing by his wife, Evelyn; and son, Patrick.

He is survived by his brother, Duane; daughter, Diana Crants; and son, Mark (Teresa) Crants.

A Graveside Service at Forestvale Cemetery will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19th. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I had a sweet conversation with
Bob at the Old St. John’s building just a few months ago.
I got to know him at MDT’s Construction Bureau. He was ever the gentleman.

Remembering Bob and knowing how much you all will
    miss him…

Mark and Diana, our thoughts and prayers are with you always. Your dad was the nicest man and always had the kindest things to say no matter where and when we met. The old neighborhood may no longer be the same, but the awesome memories will always remain. Many hugs and prayers to you all.

Bob was a tremendous community servant through the Eagles and Kiwanis. I appreciate the many hours he served at the Kiwanis steak booth over the decades and when his fellow Eagle, our beloved Duke Hudson who we lost last year, teamed up with him to put on our Kiwanis Auction at the then Eagles facility off Lola Bob was a fixture. That dynamic duo are no doubt organizing service projects in heaven. God bless all his loved ones.
