Robert James Lubick (Bob or Luby to friends) 8/18/1955-10/12/2018
Bob Lubick, 63, passed away on October 12, 2018, at St. Peter’s Health. He was born August 18, 1955, in Butte to Shirley (Hubacka) and Bob Lubick. As a young child, Bob was a fast learner and took a liking to anything that had wheels or a motor. He attended grade school in Butte and Rocker, and graduated from Butte High School in 1973. He made many lasting friendships during his school days that carried with him into adulthood.
In 1962, Bob’s mother Shirley married Jerry McCauley and Bob gained two sisters (Peggy and Jerrie Ann) and a brother (Steve). Bob grew very close to his siblings. He especially loved his dad (Jerry) who he lovingly referred to as “Pa.”
In 1975, Bob married Colleen Ann Trudeau. From this union, Bob gained a huge extended family, and two children were born: Amy and Anthony (Tony). Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend.
Bob worked for his dad’s business, Jerry’s RV, after school until moving to Helena and beginning work for the Department of Transportation. He worked for the State Motor Pool for 30 years and retired in 2010. He made many meaningful friendships during his career.
Bob loved listening to great music, snowmobiling, boating, riding motorcycles, ATV’s, and hanging out with his “Quad L” club in his spare time. Many great memories were made at his parent’s house in York, during family camping trips to Holland Lake, and taking 4-Runner rides into the mountains. Bob had a heart of gold and was a friend to all. He would do anything for anyone and was known for taking better care of others than he did himself. Bob’s passing was sudden and unexpected, and will leave a void in many lives that will never be filled. As Bob would often say “it is what it is.”
Bob is survived by his parents (Shirley and Jerry McCauley), wife (Colleen Lubick), daughter Amy (Tom) Carlson, son Tony (Anna) Lubick, and grandson Quinn Carlson. He is also survived by his “favorite mother-in-law” and father-in-law (Evelyn Trudeau and Wade Smith); sisters Jerrie Ann (Larry) Meyers and Peggy (Tom) Cashell; brother Steve McCauley; and brothers-in law Pat (Karen) Trudeau and Mike Trudeau. He is also survived by many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his three beloved cats. He leaves behind numerous special friends and their families.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Ambulance, ER, and ICU for their kind, compassionate, and professional care of Bob during this especially difficult time.
A celebration of life for friends and family will be held from 12-4 p.m., Thursday, October 18th, at the Helena Great Northern Best Western Hotel. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to any charitable animal organization.

I knew Bobby when we were all up at York in the summer. Riding our motorcycles and swimming together. He was so fun to be with. I used to stop in to visit occasionally when he was in charge of vehicles and he gave me a hard time about my driving….silly boy. My sympathies to his family and Jerry and Shirley. I know he was such a wonderful man.

Dear Colleen:
My name is Shirley Lubick Oswald. I’m your husband’s birth father’s cousin. I met you at Mass one day in East Helena. You were sitting behind my mother & me in church. I want to extent my deepest sympathy to you & your family in this sudden, devastating loss. I only knew your husband as a very tiny boy and I’m sorry I didn’t know him as an adult. He sounds like a wonderful man. God bless you both. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Colleen and family,
I worked with Bob for years at MDT – he was kind, funny and always went the extra mile to help me and all the others that depended on the Motor Pool to get them all across the state.
My thoughts are with you all and I pray for strength, comfort, peace and togetherness at this extremely difficult time.
He will be sorely missed by me and so many others.
Hugs,
Dori Lynn Wetherelt and family

On the wings of a snow white dove, I send my prayers and love to Bob and Family. I am Delores Vavas, Mother of Robert Vavas, a long time schoolmate and friend of Bobs’. I was lucky enough to meet with Bob when he came to Butte last Aug., bringing his 4tracks to tour the surrounding mountains of Butte with my son. Bob L and I hugged and kissed cheeks and I knew what a fine man he was, his kindness to me is a sweet memory; I also was a classmate of his Mother Shirley (Grant and Butte High School). I hope time will heal this sadness and memories will be everlasting. God Bless All and My Deepest Sympathy
