Robert Dean Holstine passed away unexpectedly September 12, 2010 from heart failure.
Bob was born July 17, 1940 and raised in Viola, Arkansas. He left Viola at a young age and moved to Chelan, Washington where he worked the apple orchards and tended bar. There he met and married Peggy Williams and they had a son J. Scott Holstine. Bob and Peggy divorced and he moved to Spokane, Wa. There he attended and graduated from the Moller Barber College. While in Spokane he met Marjorie Maurer. They moved to Helena, married and had two daughters, Colette and Kimberly. Dad was known as “Bob the Barber” in Helena as he cut hair in our community for more than 47 years. He closed the doors of the Depot Barbershop in 2008 but never retired his clippers. He would travel near and far to give a hair cut and was always happy to visit with past clients, friends and family.
In his early years, Bob’s passion was team roping. In 1974 he won the Last Chance Stampede Rodeo Team Roping Championship. He enjoyed the outdoors, trail rides with The Wilderness Wonderers, camping and fishing. In later years Dad spent his time gardening, taking care of his horse & donkey, restoring old horse tackle, early morning drives to scout wildlife, visiting his neighbors, terrorizing his best buddy Clayton Sheets and most importantly spending time with his family. We are very proud to say that Dad overcame his addiction to alcohol and had been sober for 3 years. Dad was a kind, generous man and had a huge heart. We will greatly miss his pranks, great sense of humor, $5.00 handshakes, home baked chocolate chip cookies and stories of his funny adventures with Clayton. We will miss you terribly Dad and look forward to seeing you again one day. Bob is preceded in death by his mother Tressie Holstine Worsham, brother Don Worsham and nephew Kevin Worsham, in-laws Ed & Ruth Maurer, nephew Tyrel Berg. To Bob’s Loved Ones,
I am terribly sorry that you have lost such a wonderful person. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Bob every time I would run into him. I worked in the old Bob’s store and the new one. He was always wonderful, smiling and had a story to share. Even though I have not worked there in a while, he always recognized me. I hope you are able to remember his wonderful smile and share your memories together. May God be with you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Jenne (Severson) Caudle

How sorry we are to hear of Bob’s passing. Even though we have not seen one another in years, we share many precious memories as I babysat those precious daughters of yours. Marge, Colete and Kim, I wish we were closer in miles so that we could give you a hug of encouragement and love. We will come around the next time we are in Helena. May God give you all strength and peace as you carry on without Bob as husband, father, grandfather and friend. Love from both of us, “Mama Becky” and Ralph

So sorry for your loss, Bob was a good neighbor, always waved, encouraged with a friendly smile and ” Your yard is looking good” I will miss his waves, lawn mower going early in the morinings, that used to wake me up, He asked once if I had complained, I said no way, you motivated me to get up and start working on my own yard. God Bless him, May he be in the Peace of our Lord GOD, AMEN
