Robert Joseph McEachern (Bob) passed away July 6, 2013, at the age of 78, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 24, 1934, in Helena to John and Aurelia McEachern.
Bob attended Clancy Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson High School in Boulder in 1952.
He joined the Army in July 1957 and after being honorably discharged in 1959 was in the reserves for 3 years.
Bob worked at various jobs including the railroad, Lindsey Drilling, the Jefferson County Road Department, and the Montana Department of Transportation in which he retired from in 1993. He also retired from the Clancy Volunteer Fire Department after being a member for many years.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed sports, playing cards and horseshoes, and was the number one “garage saler” in the Helena area. He loved spending time with the family, whether at his cabin or home. He was an extremely generous man and always put family and friends first in his life.
He loved caring for Bandit, the family dog. He always had treats in his pockets for Bandit and enjoyed sharing stories about him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Aurelia McEachern; a sister, Mary and her husband Patrick Greene; brothers, John James (infant), Daniel E., and John V. “Jack” McEachern; and a great niece, Shandi Griffin.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Donald) Mehring and sister-in-law, Wilma McEachern; nieces and nephews, Tes Mehring, Reverend John Greene, Pat (Nancy) Greene, John McEachern, Bob (Connie) McEachern, Connie Griffin, Debbie (Tim) Mahlum; and various great nieces and nephews. Bob never married so all of his nieces and nephews were very special to him.
Bob appreciated the loving care he received from his sister-in-law, Wilma McEachern.

Patrick Greene says
Uncle Bob was a genuinely nice and kind-hearted man. Although my brother John & I were 1200 miles away in California, we always looked forward to our vacation trips to Montana. Bob always made us feel welcome which was his nature.
We are comforted with the memories of Bob that we hold in our hearts.
