Robert “Bob” Roy Scott, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend passed away in his home on August 8th, 2019.
Born in Dillon, Montana in 1959, Bob moved with his parents and siblings to Helena in 1969. They built their family home on Canyon Ferry Road, where memories would be made for nearly forty years. He was the oldest of five siblings and took his role as big brother and chief mischief maker seriously. Growing up, he participated in many sports including, football, gymnastics and was a bareback bronco rider in high school rodeo. After graduating from Capital High School in 1977, he joined the U.S. Army until 1980.
Bob married the love of his life and wife of 38 years, Joanne (Hilbert) on May 23rd, 1981. Bob and Joanne moved to Townsend in 1991 to raise their sons, Jimmy and Bobby. A proud father and family man, Bob coached little league and enjoyed cheering his boys on during their many activities.
Bob was a true Montanan. He loved to hunt, fish and was an avid horseman. He was a natural craftsman, turning his love of building into a career. He owned his own construction company and worked as a hunting guide. He took pride in breeding, raising and competing with his hound dogs. He was an excellent cook- his Christmas ham and chocolate chip cookies being among the family favorites. Known by many and loved by all, Bob will be remembered for his contagious laugh, quick wit, and sense of humor. His smile could light up any room.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walt and Betty Scott. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Joanne Scott; his sons Jimmy (Nina) and Bobby (Ileana); his siblings, Mark (Julie) Scott, AnnMarie (Todd) Magill, Eric Scott, Janice (Greg) Morrison; his grandchildren, Trinity, Kiya, Daemon, Mia and Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Though he left this world too soon his generous spirit and zest for life will live on through his sons and all who knew him. Those who loved him take comfort in knowing he’s drinking coffee and cracking jokes with his parents once again.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of a dear old childhood friend. My parents were very good parents of Walt and Betty Scott and we frequented their home on Canyon Ferry for many visits. Horseback riding, sledding and a whole lot of mischievous behavior with Bob leading the way. Bob took me under his wing when we played little baseball together and taught me plenty. So even at a young age he fostered a loving and generous heart! I have so many fond memories of time spent with this wonderful and loving family! My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to the entire family.
