In Memory Of

Roberta “Jean” (O’Connor) Reed, age 82

December 7, 1937 – February 23, 2020

Roberta Jean (O’Connor) Reed went home to heaven on February 23, 2020. She was born December 7, 1937 in Great Falls, Montana to Robert and Geraldine (Baker) O’Connor. She spent her early years in Niehart, Montana.

On October 8, 1954 she married James Andrew Reed. She was a stay at home mom while their children were young. She worked at One Hour Extra Clean, a dry cleaners, and then at GTA. In 1975, Jean and Jim purchased the Newlan Creek Club, a dinner club, North of White Sulphur Springs and were there until they retired in 2001. They moved in to White Sulphur Springs, Jean went to work at the Castle Museum giving tours, truly her favorite job.

Jean and Jim raised three children, they were always involved in their activities; Boy Scouts, dance, little league, youth group, any event the kids and grandkids participated in. Jean stayed active in the community as a member of Castle Mountain Red Hats, O.D.O. and Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron and other various positions. Jean enjoyed many crafts from sewing, crocheting, knitting and punch embroidery. She loved working jigsaw puzzles and always had a book in her hand. Jean and Jim were fortunate to take many trips; camping and traveling to sporting events across Montana, visiting family in California and Oregon, a trip to the Bad Lands of South Dakota, and trips to Kansas, Nevada, Idaho and Indiana to spend time with children and grandchildren. They enjoyed two cruises and visited Branson, Missouri all with special friends. Jean’s most treasured times were with friends and family.

She is survived by her children Marisu Koski, Butte, MT, Rick Reed, Wichita, KS, Robin (Ryan) Roush, Kalispell, MT, 11 grandchildren; Kendra, Brandi, Britnie, Andrew, Michael, Heather, Renae, Kaylie, Robert, Leann and Todd and 14 great grandchildren, her sister Sue (Tim) McCann and many special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her mother and father and brothers Clyde Tuman and Gerald Tuman.

    Marisu, Rick, and Robin,
I’m very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I could not begin to put here all of the memories I have of working for her and with her at newlin Creek club. We had some wonderful times. My thoughts are with you all at this time. Unless things change I will be out of state the day of Jean’s services but my thoughts will be with you and I wish I could be there.
