I so admired Robyn’s boundless creativity. One of my favorite possessions is an oil painting of hers of a white peony. I bought many of her cards and have a handmade doll that she gave to me.
Helena has lost one of it’s special treasures.

I met Robin in 1985 while spending the winter in Bozeman in 1985-86. We began corresponding and kept that up for about 20 years. I had met her while i was on my Michigan to Alaska solo bicycle ride (i was 20 then), writing to the nonprofit place she worked at to offer my art services. We wrote deeply for many years, and i visited her in ’86 as i was heading out on the 2nd leg of my Alaska ride. She used to speak about problems she had with the flailing, abusive men in her life, and i used to encourage her to move out of that cowboy town and recognize that there’s so MUCH MORE outside!! She bought a camper to actually do some exploring, but i don’t think she ever did, other than going, alone, over to Oregon once (she said). Having that camper was more like a dream, i think, for her. Something to observe and contemplate, but she could never leave…i guess. i last saw her when i bicycled thru Helena in 2015. We didn’t communicate effectively enough and i left feeling like our friendship was ending. Then i heard that she had suddenly died, due to apparently stepping on a rusty nail! Jeez… What a whirlwind of an painting ability, this fellow artist had tho! Deserves to be widely recognized for the life she put into her work!!
