Robyn Ann Peery
On the evening of January 29, 2025, Robyn passed away at home peacefully with family by her side. She was 58 years old and passed due to complications from diabetes.
Robyn was born in Helena, Montana on February 18,1966 to Harriette and Erland Nelson.
Robyn grew up and attended school in Helena. She enjoyed family get togethers including picnics, fishing, and spending time with extended family in Drummond. She frequently recalled stories of spending time with her aunt Dorthy and uncle Loren there. One of the most repeated stories heard from Robyn’s childhood was being chased in a field by a bull with her brother Ron while wearing red. Ultimately the bull was “shooed” away by grandma with her apron.
Robyn attended college in Helena and got her degree in Computer Science. She then started working for the state of Montana in the early 1990’s. She worked for several different state agencies over the course of her career in Information Technology before ultimately taking early retirement in 2021 due to health issues.
Robyn and her husband Mike spent as much time as they could after she retired traveling with their 5th wheel to the Oregon coast (Robyn’s happy place), to Minnesota to see children and grandchildren, and just camping in general at various state parks in Montana. Although Robyn enjoyed the parks, she liked having her nice 5th wheel for “princess camping” as she called it.
Robyn’s greatest joy later in life came with the birth of her granddaughter Palmer in 2022 and then her grandson Madden in 2023. She was fortunate to get to visit with them several times before she passed either in person or Facetime and they were the lights of her life until the end.
Robyn was preceded in death by her father Erland Nelson and her mother Harriette (Nopper) Nelson both of Helena, and her brother Dennis Duffy of Albany, Oregon.
Robyn is survived by her husband Mike; sons Nick Nelson of Helena, Drew (Ashley) Peery of Bloomington, Minnesota (grandchildren Palmer and Madden) and Mitchell Peery of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother Ron (Lisa) Nelson of Helena (nieces Tori and Becca); sister-in-law Jean Duffy of Albany, Oregon; and miscellaneous extended family.
Per Robyn’s wishes there will be no immediate service, but a celebration of life will be held with family at a later date.

My condolences to Robyn’s husband and her family. I worked with Robyn at MT DOJ; she was always a pleasure to work with throughout my time there. She helped train me as an intern and taught me a lot about the job and the systems in use by DOJ MVD. She was always willing to go out of her way to help me, if I needed it, and even when I didn’t. I vividly remember her giving me a hard time when she found out my wife and I were having a baby and she was not the first one I told. I can hear her saying my name now the way she would, almost as if I was in trouble. Thank you for all the laughs, assistance, and being you. Rest in peace, Robyn.

I am so sad to hear of Robyn’s passing. I worked with her at MT DOJ, first as a co-worker and then she was my supervisor. I loved her straight-forward, no nonsense manner and humor. She taught me many things and truly loved working with her. She was a caretaker and a friend. Rest in peace Robyn.

I only knew how much Mike loved his wife, always making sure he had time off for lunch to spend with her. The way he talked about her and his boys you knew they were a loving family. My prayers are with your family. May your memories of her keep her alive in your heart. God Bless

I worked with Robyn at DOJ for many years. She supported IT systems for our team at MVD. She was good at her job, had a great sense of humor, and was easy to work with. I knew if I went to Robyn with an issue, it would get resolved or she would educate me. 🙂 I missed seeing her when I left in 2019. I knew how much she loved her family and it makes me happy she got to spend so much time these last few years with them, especially the grandbabies! Sending my prayers and condolences to the family. She was a special woman.
