Ruth Evelyn Cahill, 90, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Ruth was born November 29, 1924 in Dillon Montana and attended schools in Butte. She married Thomas Cahill in 1954. Tom preceded her in death in 1997.
Ruth’s church home was The First Baptist Church of Montana where she was an active member for many years. She knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and is with Him now.
Ruth had a long career as an accountant with Howard Walden, CPA. She later worked for Anderson Zurmuehlen Accountants for a brief time until her retirement. Upon retiring she volunteered at Central School to aid children in their reading program. She continued to be extremely active in a variety of activities.
Golfing was Ruth’s passion. She was a long- time member of Bill Roberts Ladies Golf League and served as Treasurer for many years. She golfed even through her illness and could be seen on the course as often as her health allowed. She was active in a variety of other activities including Bowling, skiing, the Broadwater Health club and pinochle club. At age 80, Ruth was still hitting the ski slopes. She developed a wonderful circle of friends through all these activities. She travelled for many years each winter to Mesa AZ to enjoy golfing in the area with her sister, Floss and husband Jerry.
She was a wonderful mother to her two sons and was always there to help and support when needed. Her garden and yard were beautiful and she made sure everything was perfect. She planted a garden this spring even though she knew she would not see the results.

Dear Cahill Family,
Ruth has a wonderful soul and I was Blessed to know her in my life. I remember her at Howard Walden’s office and when I would see her at the First Baptist Church. She was a wonderful golfer and shared that time with her boys and others.
Prayers of support to you all.
Tom

Ruth was a wonderful lady. I bowled with her and Floss many years ago and more recently volunteered with her at Central School. My condolences to the family.
Ruth Hendrix Crawford says
Ruth was my dearest friend and the sister I never had. Although my heart is broken, it is also filled with gratitude and love for this beautiful and amazing woman.
To all of the family, I send my condolences and to Tommy and Dave, I want to say: be brave, be strong and be forever thankful that your wonderful Mother is no longer in pain and can now rest in peace!
I will miss her forever!
Goodbye, dearest Ruth.

I am deeply sad as we have lost a very wonderful woman, and yes even my friend. I first met Ruth and Tom in 1981 as they were neighbors of my mother Ruth Hendrix Crawford. With the sudden passing of my step father Chester Hendrix, both Tom and Ruth were there for my Mom and all of us kids during this period of sadness. Ruth was always doing something! Baking cookies, working in her garden, or just having a cup of coffee with our family. I loved her laugh and good hearted sense of humor, even if it was to just scold Tom. I also know that she loved her boys with all her heart, and kept me informed as to they’re going on’s. Ruth, your in great company now that you are with Tom and Chester again, and know I’ll be talking with you again. Tommy and Dave, if I was closer I would be there to hug you both but please know that my heart is with you. Love to you both and Floss as well.

My condolences to Ruth’s family and especially to her sister Floss who Ruth adored. I had the pleasure of working with Ruth at Anderson ZurMuehlen and was blessed to play on the ladies pinochle club with her the past 15 years. She was a really good player and loved winning. I will miss her.

Ruth was a very gracious person. For a few years I golfed with Ruth in the Bill Roberts League, and she was also a good golfer. God Bless Ruth. She is at peace.
