Our beloved Shaun, age 47, was last seen 30th of August in Glasgow, later south of Malta in the wilderness; exposure was given as cause of death.
Shaun was born 22nd May, 1971 to Gail Flesch Nelson Green and Kim Leroy Nelson, joined by, a little brother, Shane 18 months later. From age 5, Shaun was raised by his stepdad/mom in Wolf Point. He learned rural living, wrecking yards, and mechanics. Shaun said he learned to problem solve there. Skilled with math, he developed an interest in accounting, currency, and trade. He attended CMR while living with his dad/stepmom. Shaun farmed/ranched with Uncle Mark (Sandra) and graduated from Power High School. He graduated from MSU as a CPA (Sigma Chi) with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Shaun farmed, worked for credit unions and banks (auditor), a Microsoft System Engineer, and then a project manager. He was also an ALT MBA. Shaun had been in Seattle most of his career until a recent move to Boise.
He was a marathoner, 2007 Ironman, and a photographer. Shaun loved his boat, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, skiing, singing, dancing, cooking, bungee jumping, skydiving, researching/reading, and adventures. He could build/fix anything.
Known as a man of deep character, truth, and relentless drive, Shaun had an enduring heart full of love for people; always a helping hand. To know Shaun was to love him. His big smile, distinctive swagger, mischievous laugh, and huge hugs will be missed by everyone.
He is survived by Gail Green, mother/Helena, Kim (Marsha) Nelson, father/Great Falls, Tom Green, stepfather/Wolf Point, and Shane Nelson, brother/Boise. I met Shaun in 2000 in Seattle after I moved there from Nevada. He was a part of the circle of friends that I had known since going to high school in Whitehall, Montana that had all moved to Seattle. It was (and still is) a great group of guys and I became fast friends with Shaun and in a few short weeks it was like I had know him as long as I had all the other guys. We all had great times together and a weekend trip to the San Juan Islands with our girlfriends was one of the funnest weekends that I, and my now wife, ever had and still talk about. Shaun seemed always in a jovial mood, and no matter what the activity was we had a great time doing it…..from water skiing in Coeur d’ Alene, ID to helping him work on that big ol house that he bought in Seattle way back when. Never a shortage of laughs! I moved away in 2005 but every time I came to Seattle or Shaun came through my neck of the woods he would ALWAYS make time to come and see me and give me one of those big ol hugs and it was like seeing my brother. He truly was that guy that no matter what he had going on, if you needed ANYTHING, he was right there, no questions and willing to help in whatever way he could and I loved him for that. I will miss my friend as will all of us that were lucky enough to get to know this hard working, fun loving, super intelligent, goofball of a man! Rest in Peace my friend. You will forever be in the thoughts of “the guys”, and all of us getting together will never be the same, but I know you will always be a part of us.

My deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time. I hope the words at Rev.21:4 bring you comfort. It says: “God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

When I first moved to Seattle in 2001, Shaun befriended me with his smile and kindness. He really made me feel less alone and encouraged me. I imagined he always brought big grins and willingness to be there for everyone. He’s missed.
