Owen’s parents were Montana pioneers who settled the Nelson-York area in the mid 1880’s. He grew up with his brother and two sisters in the Nelson-York area near the Missouri River. He attended Helena High School when it was located in the train coaches, following the 1935 earthquake.

Owen married Anna V. Treml on December 30, 1938 in Helena. They ranched for several years in the Nelson-York area. Their four children were born on the ranch. In addition to ranching, he worked on the gold dredge near the El Dorado Bar on the Missouri River. Thereafter, he was employed by the Montana Power Company for several years. Following his employment with MPC, he was employed by the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation where he began working for more than 20 years as a Hydroelectric Operator and Foreman for several dams in the Northwest, including Chandler and Pallisades, State of Washington, Canyon Ferry, State of Montana, and the Jackson Lake Dam in the heart of the Grand Teton National Park, State of Wyoming. He received many awards and recognitions for his outstanding service for the bureau. Following his retirement from the bureau in 1978, he was a Consultant on the new Salto Grande Hydroelectric Dam in Salto, Uruguay, South America for a short duration.

During his retirement years, Owen and Anna traveled extensively in their motor home. Owen was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed spending time communicating with people across the country.

Owen is preceded in death by his sister, LaVere “Sis” Southwick. Also preceding him in death are his three daughters: Rosanne Oleson, Sally Adams and Patricia Williams, as well as two grandsons, Kevin Warren and Randy Munger.

Owen is survived by his brother, Bernie (Mary) Warren and his sister, Phyllis Jakovac; his wife, Anna, and son, Richard M. Warren, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
