Shirley Ann McLaren

January 23, 1934 – October 9, 2010

Shirley Anne McLaren, age 76, died peacefully at her home in the early hours of Saturday, October 9, 2010.

Shirley was born in Sheridan, Montana, on January 23, 1934 to Leland T. and Florence (McClurg) Baker.

She graduated from Sheridan High School and attended one year of Business College.

Shirley and Arthur M. McLaren were married June 10, 1956 in Sheridan, Montana. While living in Dillon she was employed by Elieles Department Store and Dilmart. She worked as a bookkeeper for Vaughn – Ragsdale, Rogenes, Tire Rama and the Globe in Helena MT from 1960 to 1984. Shirley worked from 1984 to 1997 and retired from the Department of Transportation as a licensing technician.

Shirley enjoyed gourmet cooking, sewing, knitting, crafts of all kinds and spending time with her family, spotting in the ski boat for her grandson. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral, the Lost Corner Square Dancers and the Elks Lodge.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur McLaren; her brother, Danny Baker and her parents Leland and Florence Baker. Shirley is survived by her son, Arthur Ray (Terressa) McLaren of Ft. Greely, Alaska; daughters, Cindy (Frank) Lopez of Big Fork, Mt; Shari (Randy) Robertson of Terry, Mt.; sister, Janice (Hymie) Waage of Alberta Canada; nine grandchildren, Josh (Cyndi) Sawyer, Levi (Cassie) McLaren, Justin Lopez, Tanner McLaren, Whitney McLaren, Brady Robertson, Chance McLaren, Caleb McLaren, Franque Robertson and one great granddaughter, Ore Anna Ortivez.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 14th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Harrison. A reception will then be held at the Ft. Harrison Service Club. Memorials in Shirley’s name are suggested to the Hospice of St. Peter’s 2475 Broadway Street Helena, MT 59601 or to the Cancer Treatment Center C/O St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation 2475 Broadway Street Helena, Montana 59601.
