Shirley Jean Neuhardt of Canyon Ferry Lake went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of August 12, 2014, after a brief illness. She was 82.
She was born in Butte, on Nov. 12, 1931, to Frederick and Maud Kellow. She was educated in Butte, graduating from Butte High in 1951.
On July 10, 1952, she married Roy W. Neuhardt in Helena. They lived in Butte until 1977 when they moved to Canyon Ferry. In Butte, she worked for Sears Roebuck until moving to Helena when she joined the Montana Department of Transportation and worked in the Right of Way Bureau until her retirement in June 1991.
She enjoyed the outdoors at the family cabin at Canyon Ferry, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and special friends. Her family and extended family were the center of her life. She cherished the loving role of “Nana” to her very core. She was an avid fan of her beloved Denver Broncos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred Kellow; and grandson, Jacob Neuhardt.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; two sons, The Rev. Kerry Neuhardt of Lakeside, Ariz., and Bill (Kim) of Edmonds, Wash.; two daughters, Lori (Tom) Gustin and Sherri (Robert) Haller, both of Helena; Diana Neuhardt of Phoenix; six grandchildren, Marresa (Mitch) Houle and Misty (James) Buzzacco, both of Phoenix; Jonathan Neuhardt, Seattle; and Brandon, Laura and Serena Haller, all of Helena; and her great-grandchildren, Madison, Alexandra and Kennedy Houle, all of Phoenix; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service for the family will be held at a future date.
