Stacia Marie Goodno, 93, died of natural causes March 26th at Hunter’s Glenn Assisted Living in Missoula.
She was born June 26th, 1920 in Roundup, the 4th of 6 children born to Alexander and Victoria Marcinkowski, both Polish immigrants to the U.S. After high school graduation, she completed her Associates Degree at Great Falls Business College before moving to Helena where she became employed at Power Townsend Hardware Co.
Later she met Alvin (Bud) Goodno whom she married on January 23rd, 1943 at St Helena’s Cathedral. They established residency at 800 11th Avenue and were blessed with two children. After her husband’s sudden death in 1956, she worked at the St. John’s Hospital Nursing School, and then accepted a position at the Montana State Highway Dept. She worked there until she retired in 1978. In 2001, due to ill health, she sold her home and moved to Hunter’s Glenn in Missoula where she would be close to her daughter’s family.
Survivors include her two children, Earle (Micheline) Goodno of Candia, NH, and Marcia (Merle) Johnston of Missoula; 6 grandchildren: Sarah (Johnston) Hargrave, Stacie (Johnston) Dodson, Phillip Johnston, Alex Goodno, Chantal (Goodno) Cole, and Monique (Goodno) Day; and numerous nieces, nephews, and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Millie Davis, Helen Marcinkowski, Stella Marcinkowski, Maryrose Davis, and her brother George Marcinkowski.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Partners Hospice for their continued selfless, devoted attention to our mother during her long period of decline.
The family asks that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Partners Hospice, 2687 Palmer Street, Suite B, Missoula, MT 59808.

I lived on 11th avenue in Helena and walked by your home many times a day and watched the two little Goodnos playing in the yard. We moved across town in 1956. That same year I remember hearing that your dad had died and I often wondered about your family–you two children must have been quite young. It was a surprise to read that your mother moved to Missoula. I probably walked by her out at Hunter’s Glen when I visited a friend. I just remember how pretty we thought she was–probably when we saw her unloading groceries out of the car! Nice to read about her long life and many grand & great-grandchildren. May all the good memories give you great comfort. Sincerely, Dianna Reber Riley, Missoula

Earle and Marcia,
My deepest sympathies go out to you and your extended families on the loss of your mother. Earle, I have many warm memories of going to your house after school, and the kindness your Mother showed toward us when we invaded your house. Those were very good times, and we all had very special parents, especially your Mom who raised you by herself. She lived a good, long life, but I know a little bit of us goes when we lose a parent. I hope our paths cross in Missoula one of these years.
Warmest regards,
Bob/Pinky

Dear Marcia and family…I too remember how often we had the pleasure of your beautiful Mother’s kindness and generosity in putting up with us all. The “neighborhood” was such fun for us all both with St. Helena’s grade school and the Cathedral High School being so close to our houses. Even though our paths have not crossed for oh so many years, fond memories flood back when thinking of you, your brother and your Mom. Her beauty was something we all admired and this has definitely been inherited. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
With sympathy and friendship,
Maggi McKinnon Corbett

Earle and family,
I remember your mother well. She was such a gracious, kind lady blessed with much patience. The rememberances I have of the parties and play times at your house (overseen by your mom) still are remembered most fondly (especially playing croquet when John Link broke my front tooth)! She always seemed to have a smile on her face as she watched us during playtime. You and your family are in our prayers as you cope with your loss and grief. Please accept our most sincere condolences.

Hi, Earl,
My condolences to you and your whole family on the loss of your mother, Stacia.
She lived a long life. To live in Missoula near Marcia and her family was a blessing.
I remember her as very beautiful and young. I liked her name, it was lovely and different.
You may be surprised to know that I have a vivid memory of your dad. he was young and a good looking man.
After he died and you came back to school, I felt so sad for you. and yet I was comforted to know that someone else had lost their dad, not just me.
Our class reunion -as always- was a good time and reason to ponder and review my own life.
Be well.
