Stephanie Sue Olsen died June 9, 2013, with family by her side, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, MT. Steph was born February 15, 1953 in Cocoa Beach, FL to Robert and Doreen Watkins, when her father was stationed there with the Air Force. She lived in Powell, Cody and Casper, WY and Glendive and Billings, MT where she graduated from Billings West High School in 1971. She moved to Helena and on February 15, 1986 married Paul Olsen, the love of her life.
Steph is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Paul, sisters Vicky Thomas (Jim) and Cindy Ellis Bye (David), nieces Megan, Clarissa, and Bekki, and nephew Rob, sisters- in-law Anne Marie Semsak (Olsen) and Sr. Elizabeth Olsen, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friend, “Mama Joy.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Watkins, mother, Doreen Watkins, and youngest sister, Tammie Watkins Self; and father-in-law Ralph Olsen, mother-in-law Monica Olsen, and brother-in-law Albert (Al) Olsen.
Steph enjoyed reading, solving all kinds of puzzles, writing poetry, listening to Christian and country music, eating out at restaurants and walking around town. She had a great sense of humor, cherished her family and friends, and was appreciative of every kindness bestowed on her.
Family and friends gathered for a memorial service on June 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Her family extends a special thanks to cousin Gretchen, who helped her during recent months of her illness, her faithful visitors, Mama Joy, and Paul’s sisters, Elizabeth and Anne Marie, and the medical staff, NODA and Hospice of St. Peter’s Hospital.
