Stephen Blake Moody was born July 29th 1952 in Midland, Texas and was called home by our Lord and Savior on Sunday May 28th 2017, at the age of 64. Stephen left this life as peacefully as he lived it at his home among the mountains he loved. God has now received His greatest angel and his families and friends have lost a great man. Stephen was the 4th of 5 children born to Melvin and Geneva Moody which includes surviving members Ron (Glenda) Moody, Kaye (Don) Young and Becky Moody. He is preceded in death by his parents, youngest brother and best friend Dane Moody. He greatly valued his childhood and the memories made in the South, including his faith and the grace received as being a preacher’s son. Stephen grew up in Oklahoma and raised his children in Texas, until moving to Montana in 1999 to follow his dreams of living in the mountains.
Stephen was loved so dearly and leaves a huge void in many hearts. He was a man of great influence, integrity and passion. He raised the bar and set a fine example for all of us. His wisdom, guidance, smile and laughter will always be with us. He spent his life honing his skill for hunting and fishing and loved sharing it with others. He loved his God, his Country and his Family with all his heart and we will never forget the incredible man and father he was.
He is survived by Linda McClure, his wife of 15 years; son Cody Moody, wife Jill and their children Ava, Will, Hannah, and Nathan of Burkburnett Texas; daughter Melissa Morrow, husband Luke and their children Chloe and Ella of Murphy, Texas. Stephen is also survived by his Montana family; Jenni, Jon, JT and Mia Swartz; Melanie, John, Kenneth, Tyler (Neenah), Seth and Kiercy Dayton; Amber, Cody, Ceiley and Brandt Jensen. Stephen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. To say that he will be missed, cannot express the loss our families feel.

My beloved brother.
I know he is in Paradise, yet we still want him here.
He is worth every tear shown him.

Vickie Keck Nowlin. says
To Stephen, my special friend from youth,
Your smile and pretty eyes
Are in my memory still.
The starry and moon lit
Night remembered.
Sweet kids, not hampered
By the worries of this life
Ran free and unencumbered
On an Oklahoma summer’s night
We listened to our music
Laughed at silly things
Moments were so fleeting
As we raced too quickly on.
Leaving youth and opportunity
To chance and not pursued
We were but only passing
Time that did not wait for us.
I knew no more than friendship
But my heart was still quick pierced
By that lovely boy so nice to me
Who smiles in my memory still
Love you, Stephen.

Steve was the same age of my sister, Nancy. We were blessed to grow up in Walters OK where Bro. Moody was our pastor. The Moody family has and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Dearest Becky and Kaye,
My heart is broken for you and your families. I’m sure today, your brother Stephen is fishing from the banks of the Crystal River. He is surrounded by the family and friends he shared his life with, and basking in the presence of our Lord.
I pray His tender mercies surround you to comfort and uplift your hearts – until you are together again.
God bless you,
Your friend, Pauletta

Steve…aka Amu…aka Great White Hunter…aka a true friend and mentor. You so unselfishly shared your wisdom of the outdoors with me. You shared your wonderful family. You made great stories and testaments to your love for the outdoors, mountains, Colorado and Montana. Your father’s caring and spirited life was carried on through you, as I am sure Cody and Melissa will proudly carry on. RIP my brother. Thank you God for allowing this man to walk among us. Your life really shined.
Mick Leary says
I am very sorry to hear of Steven’s passing. I serve on the Board of Spring Meadow Resources and I had the opportunity to get to know Steven during his tenure with SMR. I will always have tremendous respect and admiration for the dedication and compassion he had for SMR clients and staff. I apologize I cannot attend the service but please be assured Steven is in my thoughts and his family is in my prayers. Take care.

Steve, our time together at PPG was short, but I often was envious of you and your answering the call of the wild. Soar with the eagles my friend. RIP.
