Stephen Eugene Stoneking, 67 died very unexpectedly on February 3, 2015 from a heart attack.
Stephen was born on August 29, 1947, in Long Beach, California. Steve worked most of his life in construction and driving truck. In his later years Steve worked for the USDA as a Supervisor and more recently as a floor runner for Town Pump. Steve was at his happiest when he was camping, he loved good country music, and most importantly would do anything for his family. Steve strongly believed in his convictions; that ‘what you speak about, you bring about’, and he never lost sight of that. Steve idolized his father, loved his wife, and supported his children through every adversity. He was a simple but proud man, very old-school and a person who always walked his talk. Steve walked the line his entire life. He was so proud of his children, and he wanted nothing but the best for them, always.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Stoneking, his step-mother Patricia Stoneking, his four children; Bryan (Jami) Stoneking, Scott Bradley Stoneking , Jacob Riley Stoneking and Jennifer Renae Stoneking, his grandchildren; Tyler James Stoneking and Wyatt James Stoneking, and his sister Stephanie Gonzales.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Sylvia Stoneking as well as his sister Sherryl Swartzs.
A casual celebration of Steve’s life will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7th at Retz Funeral Home, 315 E. 6th Avenue. Please visit below to offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of Steve.

May the family find comfort in loving memories, and in knowing that God is “close to those that are broken at heart; and he saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) Our loving Creator, Jehovah God, has promised to soon “swallow up death forever…and wipe the tears from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8) With deepest sympathy.

My grief is heavy I feel empty & sorry that I didn’t, get a chance to see him before he passed. We all grew up so close than other families, I’ll always cherish our childhood. My love to all my family I so wish we could all see each other again. He was a great man, just like his dad who I loved so dearly. Please forgive me for being so late in my acknowledgement on this very sad day! My love & blessings go out to all of my family!

Pam, Jake, Jenny and the Stonekings I did not get a chance to meet, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. I was sad to hear of your loss of Steve. I will always remember the time that Steve would only let Jenny go to the movies after he found out that I was going with you. He will truly be missed. Big hugs to you all! Love you all!

I will always remember him as the proud parent when The Seldom Paid Jammer’s would play at JB’s on Sunday afternoons and Jake and his little sister would come while Pam worked. Jake was just beginning to learn guitar and would sit in with us and play and sing and he would often join us at the Firetower Coffee Shop again on Thursday nights. Stephen was always there encouraging Jake simply by his presence…..oh for the old times.
Donner says
Dear Family my condolences for your loss. God will give you the strength and comfort needed at this difficult time. The Bible’s promises can sustain and fortify us. One of the many scriptures that help me at these grievous times is found at Revelation 21:4: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I hope this thought helps you.
Again my deepest sympathy
