In Memory Of

Teri M. Cole, age 44, of Helena

September 14, 1971 – August 3, 2016

Teri Brannman Cole

On Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016, Teri went home to the Lord after battling complications due to Hemochromatosis, a genetic disease. She is in the arms of our Lord singing His praises with the Angels.  She was comforted by the love and prayers of family and friends.

Teri was born in Yerington, Nevada on September 14, 1971. She was the beloved daughter of Dennis and Leslie Brannman.

Teri is a graduate of Capital High School where she formed lifelong friendships. Teri’s friends loved and cared for her during her illness and throughout her life.  One of Teri’s most loved traditions was camping at Sealy Lake with friends from high school.

Teri attended college at Seattle University for 2 years and eventually received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Montana State University. After graduating college, Teri fulfilled a dream by moving to San Francisco.  She wanted to experience the adventure of living in the city.  After several years, Teri moved to Seattle where she married and had her 1st son, Daniel.  The family moved to Helena in 2004 and in 2006, Teri’s 2nd son, Curtis was born.  Daniel and Curtis brought Teri unspeakable joy.  There was nothing more important to Teri than her boys.

Teri could be counted on to help others in need. For some time, she worked in the hospital and she would always ask her boys to pray for different patients who were suffering, she was often brought to tears by the suffering of others.  Friends and family alike knew that Teri would give them the shirt off her back if they needed it.  Teri had a true spirit of generosity.

Teri also had an amazing sense of humor. She loved to play pranks on people and she often caught people by surprise!  She liked adventure, having fun with friends and family, hiking and most of all spending time with her kids.

What made Teri such an amazing person was her faith. She knew that she belonged to God and that He loved her unconditionally.  Her faith gave her strength during all of the suffering of her illness.  She found comfort in praying for others when she experienced pain.  Her trust in God never wavered even during the most difficult times.

Teri is survived by her sons, Daniel who is 13 and Curtis who is 10, her parents, Dennis and Leslie, her sisters, Dawn and Kristie, her nephew Walker, her maternal grandmother, uncles, aunts and cousins. She will be missed more than we can put into words.

We would like to thank Teri’s friends, coworkers, St Andrew’s Catholic School and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church for all of the love and support that Teri and our family received during Teri’s illness. We are in awe of the generosity of so many people.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:15 p.m. today, August 10th at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1502 Shirley Rd, Helena, MT 59602. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery. A reception will follow the committal service in the social hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in Teri’s name be made to the Iron Disorders Institute: http://www.hemochromatosis.org/give/

    For Teri:

I did not know Teri that well, but my sisters, Vivian Kennaugh and Sharon Redpath, let me know how she was doing. My nephews, Kevin and Kory Kennaugh, were Teri’s lifetime friends and thought so much of her and still do. She is at peace now and the long struggle is over. Thoughts and prayers for the family.

You are dearly and forever missed, friend. I am sad beyond words, heartbroken and so missing you. You’d always say “I’m a terrible friend, I never call” but you were always there, always knew what to say or do. You made me laugh, you helped again and again, always up for an adventure or a beer hah. I will most remember the kind of mama bear you were to your greatest loves: Daniel and Curtis. Protective, generous, example of Christian values… you lived for those boys and they were your heart and soul. I miss you, dear T. Miss you, love you. Jeanne

    My Dear Teri,
You’ve been taken way too early from your loved ones. Although we lived far apart you were never far from my heart. You will be missed. Rest in Peace.

    Teri,
While our acquaintance was brief, you left a lasting impression. I truly missed out Helena High vs Capital High conversations! Rest easy my friend, you will be missed by many as you were the type of person that landed in our hearts!

    Teri,
I’ve spent the last four days since I heard of your passing trying to think of the right words to say, and I can’t. I am just heartbroken. I will always remember your laugh, and how you made others around you laugh. I miss our little gatherings. You had such a strong faith, and I watched you raise your boys with that same faith. I’m glad your struggle is over, and I have no doubt that you are at peace, and that you did everything possible to assure that Daniel and Curtis are at peace with this too. You are and will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
    Love, Allison

Teri was a friend from very early on in life. We may now be “old” but not old enough for her to be gone from family, friends or those that she helped every day. Teri was always such a joy. The “red” hair, the joy she brought, the friendship whether you talked daily, or only a few time since high school. Teri was a joy to anyone she met. She will be missed. I know I am truly blessed that i knew Teri and had a friend like her in my life. I am sad she is gone so early from her children’s lives but glad that she will live on in them. My prayer and thoughts to her family during this very difficult time.

Teri was in my life for many years. As a very young girl, she camped with our family at Seeley Lake. She was best friends with my nephew Kevin Kennaugh & David Herrin. They made our camping trips very interesting with all their pranks and all the laughter. She had the cutest giggle & a shy like smile. I feel so fortunate to have had a very long walk with Teri around the camp ground her very last year at Seeley. We laughed & hugged & talked about many things. I didn’t know that would be our last time, so thankful! My thoughts & prayers are with her family. Dawn, you are an angel, so much love & care you gave her. Sisters are wonderful & I am so sorry you lost yours so soon. God bless you all & now Teri is an angel to look over all her family. Daniel & Curtis, you have so many wonderful memories of your mother. Teri, you have no more pain & suffering, you are now in the hands heavenly father. Rest in peace & know your children will have good care. See you at Seeley next year, dear one.
