Terrence Arnold (TA) Kummer–Clancy, Montana
Terrence Arnold (TA) Kummer, 89, passed Wednesday December 25, 2024. He lived in Clancy, Montana.
He was born July 24, 1935, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin as an only child adopted by Nicholas Kummer who was married to Mildred. Nicholas passed 2 years after the adoption. Milred later remarried Alois Stehling.
Terrence was married to Kathleen Ann on July 21, 1957, in Brown Hills, NJ. His precious wife Kathleen passed Sunday, June 26, 1987.
Terrence served in the US Air Force from 1953-1973 and retired as a Master Sergeant. He received several Air Force decorations including The Air Force Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster for Meritorious Service.
His military took TA and his family to bases around the world serving his country honorably.
After the Air Force retirement, he worked for the state of Montana from 1977-1991 in the Unemployment Division until he retired.
Surviving family: Three sons and their families.
Robert (Bobby) Kummer of Spokane. Washington with wife Shelly and two children, Dillon and Morgan. Morgan is married to Mike Robert, and they have two children, Tyler Rose and Lincoln.
Gregg Kummer of Spokane, Washington with his fiancé’ Karen Hughes.
Mike Kummer of East Wenachee, Washington with wife Amy and two children, Colton and Maddy.
Terrence loved his freedoms, not only as a Patriot in the USA but a Pioneer in the great state of Montana. He spent a great deal of time teaching his sons, Bobby, Gregg and Mike how to hunt and fish.
Hunting, fishing and the great outdoors has not only been a love of the Kummer men, but it’s also been their passion.
Terrence was a strict man who raise his sons to be men and accept responsibility for their choices without excuse.
Terrence will be greatly missed by a family that loved him. But they believe that one day, because of the grace of God they will be together again.

Dear Kummer Family,
My heart dropped when I saw that you had lost your Dad. I installed his sprinkler system about 35 years ago and always looked forward to visiting with him when I came around for blow outs each Fall. The first thing he would talk about was his sons! He was SOOO proud of you boys and the fine men you had grown up to be! His face would light up when he talked about you. I’m thankful because he took a chance and gave me his business when I was just getting started in my sprinkler business, and it blossomed into a wonderful friendship for the last 35 years. He faced all of his challenges, physical and personal, with courage and determination. TA didn’t mix his words and said what he was thinking, and I respected him for that. He had gotten his hair cut by my ex father-in-law when they lived in Glasgow so we had that connection too. I will miss him and his many bird hunting stories about his time spent at his cabin in Valier with family and friends. TA was a good man and will be missed.
Where there is sadness, love plants a garden of memories and may TA’s garden bloom profusely and forever!
With love, Ted Polette

I had the honor and pleasure to get to know TA over the years when I was with St Peter’s Foundation. He was always one of the first donors at the office during our Hospice Light a Life fundraiser. Always missing Kathy and speaking highly of his children. I recently had the opportunity to sit on “his” bench at the VA Cemetery bringing back all those memories and conversations. My condolences to his family and friends.

TA was one of kind. He took me under his wing when we moved backed to Montana from California in 1989. Been friends ever since. Lots of fishing and bird hunting trips and of course, talking about our beloved dogs.
We will miss you TA. Until we meet again….

So long, to my old friend. I will miss our lengthy phone calls and “bull sessions”. T.A. was one of the most interesting people I ever knew. Sometimes it seemed like he knew every fisherman and bird hunter in Montana. He was always generous with his time and worked hard for causes hr believed in, such as the Helena Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited. Nobody ever enjoyed hunting and fishing more thann T.A. I am happy to have been a freind of his for the past 40 (+/-) years. We shared a lot of laughs. ,,,,,Miss ya, buddy

Dear Kummer Family
TA was a dear friend and we will miss him. We worked together for many years at the Helena Job Service. It was a pleasure and he made the job fun. After he retired we stayed in touch. He would come hunting on our ranch and I think we may have spent more time talking than hunting. In the past couple of years I would talk him into attending my aqua aerobics class at Crossroads when he was feeling well. TA was a wonderful human. Prayers of consolation for your family
John Lowney says
So sorry to hear of TA’s passing. We worked together for many years, more importantly I got to spend time hunting and fishing with TA and the boys. Every trip was an adventure and a memory made special because I got to be with him and the kids.
Jill Myhre says
To Kummer family:
Sorry to hear of your dear dad’s passing. I missed out on your life journeying after we all left Glasgow.
Take care in this time of grief.
