In Memory Of

Tim Miller age 54 of Helena

November 28, 1958 – April 26, 2013

Timothy Earl “Tim” Miller

Surrounded by his family, Tim Miller crossed the final finish line on April 26, 2013.  He was lovingly attended in his last days by the caring Oncology staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and visited by countless friends and family.  He valiantly fought a solitary battle against cancer, unknown to those who loved him.

Tim was born to Everett Earl and Gladys Jeanette Thompson Miller on November 28, 1958 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  He came to Helena, Montana- his hometown -at age 17.

Tim took great pride in collecting memorabilia from concerts, sports, and his children’s achievements.  He was a lover of all sports, whether coaching, watching, or participating, and could always be found cheering on his favorite player, driver, or team.

Tim’s amazing statistical ability was little-known.  He could rattle off stats for local and legendary players alike, and he filled countless notebooks with self-made teams and leagues- complete with logos and mascots.

Tim could always be found listening to (loud) music in genres from Country to Christian Alternative to Hair Metal Rock.   Along with music, his love of his friends and their camaraderie is unparalleled.  An original “Regulator”, Tim could always be found with his friends.

Tim committed himself to his work with passionate fervor.  He was a station attendant at the gas pump in Gibson’s parking lot, a beloved bartender, and he moved on to the Landscaping/ Sprinkler Technician career that carried him through his final days.  Summertime found Tim in lawns around town, installing for Herrin Water Systems, Quality Sprinkler Systems, and finally for AAA Quality Sprinkler and Landscape.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Michael Earl Miller.

Left behind at Tim’s tailgate are his children Rehanna & Todd Olson (Missoula, Montana), Stephannie & Shawn McCann (Astoria, Oregon), Darrick & Mandee Zuelke (Helena, Montana) and ex-wife Gwen Zuelke.   “Grumpaw’s” biggest fans Anna Drake; Spencer, Caitlin, and William Olson; Jordynn, Joelle, and Callie McCann will be cheering him on, along with too many friends and family to count!

Memorials may be sent in Tim’s name to the Cancer Treatment Center or to Tim’s family in care of Retz Funeral Home.

Wear your sports gear and join us at Tim’s final tailgate Wednesday, May 1, 2013 starting at Retz Funeral Home, at 5 PM.  We will share and celebrate Tim’s life at 6 PM, and conclude with a last hurrah at the Wingate Inn after the celebration.  To offer a condolence or share a memory, please visit below.

    Dear Gwen,
We were so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. He was too young to go. But I guess God has greater plans for him. Condolences to you and your family through this sad time.

    Gwen,
I am so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids at this difficult time. He is now with Scott in heaven and I would guess they are probably comparing notes about the recent football draft.
    Love,
    Terise

    Dear Gwen & Family,

We could not believe our eyes when we read of Tim’s passing. It just does not seem real that he could be gone. We have so many fun memories of time spent with him. Even though we lost touch after we moved to Arizona, we still thought of him (and you) often and wondered how you were doing. We’ll always remember how he beamed with pride when he talked about the kids.

We are so sorry for your loss. We know he will be greatly missed. We are sending our sincere sympathy and are keeping you in our prayers. Hold tight to all of your wonderful memories.

    God Bless,
    Allen & Diana Richards
