Robert Todd Teegarden, dedicated father and husband, beloved son and brother, passed away on June 30, 2017. He was born on February 27, 1964 in Red Lodge, Montana and raised in Billings by his parents, Thomas and Donna (Dell) Teegarden. Todd always loved sports and the outdoors, especially fishing and baseball. He shared his passion for these things with his wife and children and with his younger brother, Travis.
Todd graduated from Billings West High School in 1982 and excelled in multiple sports; he played four years for the Billings Scarlets American Legion baseball team that won State Championships in 1979 and 1982 on the team that finished 49-3. Todd’s baseball talent earned him a scholarship to the University of Wyoming, where he was a 4-year starter in the middle infield, and earned 3 Western Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete awards.
Todd graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from UW and after short stints in the private sector, working for HKM Engineering in Billings, MT and Crazan Engineering in California, Todd began a career with the State of Montana Department of Environmental Quality, where he was currently employed at the time of his death.
Todd married Amy Rose Pfaff on June 29, 1991 and began a family as they migrated to Helena, MT. They have three talented children, Justin Todd Teegarden, Tatum Rose Teegarden and Logan David Teegarden.
Todd carried the heavy burdens of life with courage, dedication and integrity.
Todd is survived by his parents, his wife, Amy, their three children, Justin (Morgan), Tatum and Logan, and siblings Teresa Ann Lynch (Pat), Thomas Dell Teegarden (Kathy) and Travis Paul Teegarden (Stephanie).
Todd was supported throughout his career by dedicated professionals at the State of Montana Department of Environmental Quality and by an incredible number of great friends and teammates from the Scarlets, West High Bears, and UW Cowboys. He also had many cherished friends from the Forest Service family and Montana City community. Each one of you know who you are and how special you were to Todd.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Todd at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Montana City School Gymnasium, 11 McClellan Creek Road, Montana City. This is where Todd enjoyed watching his three children compete (with great pride). Please join the family following the service for refreshments and hugs. Memorials in Todd’s name are suggested to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grant Creek Road, Missoula, MT, 59808. Amy and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Todd 25 years ago when I came to work for the department. I was privileged to sit in the area where Todd and his other cohorts worked. They were smart; yet brought much humor to the work place. Over the years, Todd kept that humor joking about how he couldn’t wait to go golfing or fishing. Todd always had a genuine “hello and how are you” whenever he saw me. He was proud of his employees accomplishments and stood by them. Todd will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Paul LaVigne says
Amy,Justin, Tatum, Logan and Travis, Tom and Dell,
I am so sorry for the incredible loss of Todd. Through the tens of thousands of hours I’ve worked and played with Todd over the years, the love of his family always stood out above all his other excellent attributes. I think it’s important to note that this was not a man that gave up, or gave in. Rather, this was a strong man who was overcome by something much more powerful than him – something incomprehensible to most of us. No one could have managed what Todd managed for as long as he did, and with such grace. Todd will always be a part of us. His great attributes live through all of you. If there is anything I can do, please don’t hesitate to call. Paul

Saddened to hear of Todd’s passing. Praying for comfort for the family. Fond memories of playing baseball for many years, all the way back to the days of Master Plumbers at Central Heights Little League with Todd and Trav. Todd was a leader and positive influence on us all but was most remarkable in the way he mentored his brother, Travis. We should all aspire to be that good of a brother. Proud to have been acquainted with the entire Teegarden family. So sorry for your loss. God bless!
Terry Campbell says
Amy, Justin, Tatum and Logan:
Todd was always a good friend, family man and gentleman first. I have always felt like he was a friend that I just happened to be lucky enough to work with all these years. Knowing the physical struggles he has had to endure these past years was beyond fair. He was so strong, but I could see he was struggling.
You all need to know just how proud Todd was of each of you! He radiated with pride whenever we talked about family. I will never forget my friend and will always strive to live up to the “high example” of the truly fine individual he was. We keep each of you in our hearts and know we will do anything to help in any small way.
Jenna Bousman says
