Our loving mother, Torey Riddle, left this world to be with Jesus on the evening of May 23rd, 2013. At 72, she was stricken with a fast-progressing lymphoma after battling complications of diabetes for 48 years. She is comforted now in the Lord’s arms.
Torey was born in Orem, Utah on October 4th, 1940. She married Donald Nehring and had three daughters: Shelley, Julie and Tanya. She later divorced and married Doyle Riddle, who died in 1990 of leukemia.
Torey loved dogs, eagles, flowers, the beach, the smell of the mountains, the sound of the ocean, and most of all, the Lord. Torey trusted Jesus as her personal savior a number of years ago, so we have the assurance that she is safe in His arms today.
In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and traveling on a motorcycle with her husband and friends. In her later years, she enjoyed walks and visits with her friends from the doggie park in Oregon, feeding the birds and the squirrels in her backyard, and attending events with the Senior Saints at Liberty Baptist Church.
Torey was preceded in death by her brother Remo Pyne, sister, Calleen Nelson, and her parents. Torey is survived by her daughters, Shelley (Bill) Haslip, Julie Isom, and Tanya Nehring, her grandson, Jim Isom, granddaughters, Jennifer (Kenji) King, Stacy (Tyrel) Murfitt, and Christine Haslip, her great grandsons, Wyatt Murfitt, Connor King, and Adam King, her brothers, Kelly Pyne and Rube Pyne, her sister, DeAnne VanTassell, and the woman who treated her like her own mother, Dr. Gwen Pincomb.
Our mother’s precious spirit will be missed, and we are thankful for the years that the Lord blessed us with her light. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, with luncheon reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Torey asked that donations be sent to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society.
