Venetia E. Short, 94, passed away in Helena of natural causes on April 10, 2018. Venetia was born in Carbonado, Washington on June 30, 1923 to parents Arthur and Eleanor Olson. She graduated from Holy Names Academy in Seattle, Washington in 1941 and married the love of her life, Donald Robert Short on August 17, 1942. They had five children: Donald R. Short, Craig M. Short, Sandra L. Copenhaver, Steven R. Short, and Michelle D. Short.
In 1965 Don and Venetia united with the Church of the Nazarene in Port Angeles, where they committed themselves to the work of the God’s Kingdom.
Venetia was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Olson and Eleanor Turner; her brother, Richard Turner; husband, Donald R. Short; son, Donald R. Short and daughter Michelle Short. She is survived by sons, Craig (Evelyn) Short and Steve (Linda) Short; daughter, Sandy (Wally) Copenhaver, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Venetia’s wishes were not to have any services. She will be interred with her husband at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. Donations may be made in Venetia’s memory to Helena Nazarene Church, 117 Valley Drive Helena, MT 59601.
