In Memory Of

Victor Krushensky, Age 80

May 30, 1932 – October 25, 2012

Victor L. Krushensky, 80, of Helena MT, took the hand of God and was led to his heavenly mansion, on October 25, 2012.

Victor was born May 30, 1932 to Andrew J. Krushensky and Margaret Lutz Krushensky in Belfield, ND. He graduated from St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Business. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, and married his hometown sweetheart, Rita Mae Obrigewitch, on June 2, 1958 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. He worked with his father as a business manager in their John Deere implement dealership. He was a volunteer fireman, served as Belfield Chamber president, and was a ND Chamber member as well as a Dickinson ND Elks member.

Vic, Rita, and children moved to Helena, MT in 1969, where Victor received his Real Estate Broker’s License. He was the first lay business manager for the Diocese of Helena. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Community in Helena and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and working with cattle and horses. He delighted in teaching his children and 14 grandchildren to play cribbage and pinochle and would often sneak sugary treats to them behind Grandma’s back. Vic loved to take cruises and travel to various parts of the world.

Vic is survived by his spouse, Rita Krushensky; children; Kim Wichman (Patrick) of Belgrade MT., Scott Krushensky (Tracy) of Bozeman MT., Tracy Krushensky (Tonni) of Littleton CO., Tana Rae Larson (Jeff) of Helena MT., and Jay Krushensky (Joann) of Helena MT. Surviving grandchildren include Nathan, Tiffanie, and Lindsay Wichman; Matthew (Tiffany) and Jamie Krushensky; Angela and Breanna Krushensky; Brice, Jessica, Trevor and Sarah Larson; Jeremiah, Tyler, and Laura Krushensky;  Other survivors include brothers and sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by parents Andrew and Margaret Krushensky; mother and father-in-law Bridget and Paul Obrigewitch; brother-in-law Urban Obrigewitch.

A Vigil service will be 6:00 p.m. today, October 28th at Saint Mary Catholic Community. A funeral Mass will be 12:10 p.m. Monday, October 29th at Saint Mary Catholic Community. Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Victor’s name are suggested to God’s Love 533 N. Last Chance Gulch Helena, MT 59601 or to Helena Food Share 1616 Lewis Street Helena, Montana 59601.

A story of Love and Loss: This is certainly a journey we never expected to have to travel, but with the grace of God we have endured.

I faced the uncertainty of single motherhood, with the weight of saying goodbye to my husband, a little at a time. Whenever I see him, more of the man I love is gone. Even though, in so many ways, the married love is lost and the remainder of the man is a reminder of what is gone.

When things feel hopeless, there is an inner faith of watching my children and grandchildren whose life is on the increase. They are a breathe of God.

Our family has been given much more than many others. They have the legacy of brave parents who celebrate the present, whose love connects and continues.

Death has come, but it won’t take my husband, as long as the children and grandchildren are around.

    Rita,

I was sad to read of Vic’s passing. He was always so cheerful and nice to visit with both at your home and when I came to the Waterford.

    With deepest sympathy,
    Margaret

Over the 50 some years that I have known Vic as a beloved brother-in-law he has endured much pain, suffering, and loss. Never did I hear a complaint or hear “why me” but I did hear concern for his wife and children expressed frequently. Always a gentleman, gracious, and generous he will be sadly missed by many. One of my fondest memories of Vic was him pulling my luggage from his wheelchair after I had surgery. We enjoyed many wonderful trips as a family and Vic would laugh till he cried in spite of life’s challenges.
Rest in Peace my Friend and condolences to your family.
    Letty Obrigewitch
