Viola (Vi) M. (Bossell) Madison, 90, passed away on May 12, 2020 peacefully of natural causes. Vi was a strong, independent woman who always put her family first. Including her two cats, Suzie and Emily. In recent years she was determined to be self-sufficient and continue her independence, almost to a fault. During the last 6 years of her life Vi lived in her own basement apartment under the care of daughter Jeannie and son in law Lonnie Davis. Springtime was Vi’s favorite season and she took great pride in her flower garden and yard.
Vi was born August 22, 1929 to Clarence J and Mildred C (Castona) Bossell in Mosinee Wisconsin. She was the 3rd of 4 children. Vi retired from Mountain Bell after nearly 35 years of service. On May 20th, 1950 Vi married Jack P Miller. They were blessed with four children, Steven, Debbie, Jeannie and Mike. They later divorced and Vi married Fred K. Madison who preceded her in death.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred and siblings Don, Wes and Ron Bossell. She is survived by her children Steven (Karen) Miller, Debbie (Bruce) Campbell, Jeannie (Lonnie) Davis and Mike (Lynn) Miller. Vi is also survived by grandchildren; Cassie, Keith, Deanna, Jack, Sammi, Greg, Kristie, Jason, Becky, Nathan and Ashley. She is survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
At Vi’s request a private graveside service will be held at a later date for the family. The family would like to thank Dr Weiner and especially the nurses at St. Peters hospital for their care of Mom in recent years. I am so sorry for your loss of a wonderful mother and my good friend. I am so thankful for getting to know her through our husbands driving rental cars. She has definitely been an important part of my life these past years. Jeannie and Lonnie, you made a beautiful home for her and I know she felt safe and loved.

A friend in need is a friend indeed and we became great friends because when my family moved to Helena she and her daughters came over, introduced themselves then helped clean our way into our new home and carry boxes!! The beginning of a 50 year friendship. Great lady, will surely be missed…

In the late 70’s Jeannie and I talked Vi into moving in with us and becoming our roommate. I treasure the memories of all the laughter, kindness and wisdom Vi shared with us. Vi loved her family and was always there to lend a helping hand, give a kind word and share her wonderful wit! Fortunately for me, she always treated me like family. I’m so sorry for your loss Jeannie and Lonnie. I know she knew how deeply she was loved. May the wonderful years of memories you shared help fill some of the void. Love you!
