The family and friends of a lifetime Helena resident, are saddened to announce his passing.
He was our loving, husband, father and grandfather. Walter “Bud” Robert Riddock, age 88, passed away in Helena on April 24, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Walter was born in Helena to the late Walter J. and Venice (Virbel) Riddock on September 5, 1929. He attended Emerson and Central elementary schools. While attending Helena High School he lettered in football and track, graduating in 1949.
Walter met the love of his life, Rosemary O’Donnell, a “Greenie” Cheerleader from Cathedral High School. They were married at the Cathedral of Saint Helena on September 2, 1950. Bud prided himself on having a relationship full of love, humor and respect. His unconditional love was given to all the lives he touched. Rosemary passed away on April 4, 2002.
In 1951, Walter joined the army and was stationed in Bobingen, Germany. He worked for Riddock Well Drillers, Pitney Bowes, sold Real Estate, and was a draftsman at the Montana State Highway Department. He bought and sold heavy equipment, owned Riddock Distributing Trucking Co. and Riddock Rental.
Walter is survived by his children, Shirlee (Greg) Nelson, Pocatello, ID; Cathee (Mike) Crapo, Longmont, CO.; Jack Riddock, Helena; Ron “Rudy” (Gwen) Riddock, Helena; Jeannee (Larry) Nangle, Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren Jenaee (Craig), Adams, Boise, ID; Tracee (Bill) Mckay, Highlands Ranch, CO.; Ryan Crapo, Longmont, CO; Coree (Matt) Boyer Aurora, CO.; Conrad (Josey) Nangle, Twin Falls, ID; Patrick Nelson, Pocatello, ID; Cristina (Christian) Johnson; Bridgett Riddock (Bryan Winkley); Amber Riddock (Seth Bourquin) and Rudy Riddock, Helena; 12 great-grandchildren: Hailee and Macee Adams, Boise, ID; Cody and Nicole McKay, Highlands Ranch, CO.; Oliver Crapo, Longmont, CO.; Jude, Natalie and Mary Lee Johnson; Kobey, Karley and Khloey Winkley; Stetson Bourquin, Helena, brother-in-law Wallace Small, Missoula and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife Rosemary (O’Donnell), son Douglas, sisters Eula Marie Jacquez and Barbara Pitman preceded him in death.
A memorial service celebrating Bud’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A reception will follow the service in the social hall of the funeral home. Memorials in Bud’s name are suggested to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O.
