Wayne Randall
Wayne, or “Randy” as many knew him, passed away in the comfort of his own home with his family at his side on December 27, 2011. He was born on January 29, 1927 to Iver and Ann Randall in St Paul, Minnesota. As a child he grew up in Woodville, Wisconsin. He then joined the Army and served in Germany and France during World War II. After completion of his military duty, he finished his education in Minneapolis. His first job brought him to Montana where he worked at KOJM in Havre as an engineer, and periodically even filling in on the radio shows. It was in Havre where he met Betty. He then went on to work at Mountain Bell for the next 33 years. His work led him to Miles City, Billings and eventually Helena where the family lived for 42 years. Wayne and Betty had three children.
Wayne was an avid carpenter and after his retirement he built a home at Seeley Lake, MT. He took great pride in assisting to build his two daughters homes in Helena and also built and assisted with many other homes and projects for friends and at his church. He enjoyed playing poker with the fellas and meeting with other friends for breakfast monthly. Wayne’s dry sense of humor amused us all. Most of all, he enjoyed being around ‘his people.’
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Iver and Ann Randall. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; son, Bill (Pam) Randall of Billings; daughters, Suzie (Dave) Shute and Cindy (Dan) Backeberg both of Helena; as well as his grandkids, Danny Shute, Luke Olaf and Nikki Backeberg. He is also survived by his two brothers, Roger (Audrey) Randall and Dave (Pat) Randall both of Wisconsin, along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Wayne 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue, with a reception to follow. Memorials in Wayne’s name are suggested to Hospice of St. Peter’s c/o of St. Peter’s Hospital, 2475 Broadway, Helena 59601 or New Life Lutheran Church, 5980 N. Montana, Helena 59601. I regret that I was unable to attend the memorial service for Wayne, as I was in Arizona with my grandkids at a baseball camp. I am so sorry…first that Wayne is not longer with you and second that he had so much pain at the end of his life. He was such a good guy and “mellow fellow” that it seems wrong that he had to suffer any pain. I know you will all miss him something terrible as he was such a central part of your lives. Betty, I understand what it feels like to live alone after sharing your life with another for all of those years and my heart breaks for you and all that I know you will go through. I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you. Take care.

Betty, Cindy & Family ~
I am so sorry for your loss. I wasn’t lucky enough to have met your husband and father, but knowing both of you, I know he must have been an incredible man.
There is a passage that I look found that brings me hope, comfort and faith. I hope it will do the same for all of you.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends… –I Corinthians
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Betty and family,
What can we say? Wayne was the best friend/neighbor that a person could want and we so enjoyed the years we spent in his company and that of your family from 1977 until we moved to FL. in 2004. Thanks for all the good times, Wayne.. you were the best! We loved your corny jokes, the wonderful BBQ’d pork chops and homemade french fries you’d make us, the holey board games and parties we all had, and so enjoyed your trip to see us when we lived in Green Valley, AZ.
Our regret is that we can’t be there to help support all of you in the Randall family, but please know that even though we have all lost someone we dearly loved, it is just for a blink of an eye and we will be united again for eternity. Wayne’s suffering is now past and he has gone on to his reward in Heaven.
We love you all.
