In Memory Of

William “Bill” Ross Schultz, age 74 of Helena

William R. Schultz, age 74, of Helena, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on April 19, 2013.  He was born on October 31, 1938 to Henry A. and Helen A. Schultz in Boise, ID.  William met the love of his life, Arlene (who passed away on August 13, 2011) and they were married on October 18, 1959 in Fallon, MT.

William was an aircraft mechanic in the United States Navy where he retired after 25 years of service to our country.  After retiring from the navy William went to work at the post office and retired after many years.

William loved fishing, camping, hunting, gold mining, telling jokes and making people laugh.  But most of all loved to spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  William is survived by his children, Craig Schultz, Gail Burcar, and Amy Schultz of Helena: sibling Deborah Magnusun (Bellingham, WA); grandchildren Robert Burcar, William Burcar; and great grandson, Kaden Burcar and one great granddaughter on the way that will be named after great grandma Arlene.

I have so many memories of my brother that there are almost too many to share. He was the greatest big brother that anyone could imagine, and I have pictures of him guiding my first steps, memories of him coming home on leave, and being with him on the USS Enterprise Dependent’s Day Cruise. Craig, Gail, Amy, Robert, Bill, and the children who may not even remember their great-grandpa in a few years, know that he was a true hero, and I wish you the deepest thoughts, prayers, and condolences. Although we didn’t see eye to eye, we always saw heart to heart.
He has no suffering and sorrow . and he is over a new horizon. Relax in joy, for all eternity, Bill, now of blessed, blessed memory.

Goodbye dear friend. I met Bill in the 40’s when he was my neighbor in Boise. We shared the many adventures that best friends share and whose only purpose was unknown to anyone other than us. It has been a long road friend and as the saying goes ” if I had known I would live this long, I’d taken better care of myself”. You lived a good life. We will miss our two friends Bill and Arlene and remember you often.

We have never met Bill, but we had heard such wonderful things of “Billy’s Grandpa”. Our deepest sympathy to the family. You are in our prayers Billy.

Thank you all for your kind and thoughtful words. I apologize if I left anyone out in the obituary, during a time like this is it hard to mention everyone. My Dad was quite the character and could always be counted on for a laugh. Dad will never be forgotten and the memories of him will always be treasured. Larae at Retz did a wonderful job and we thank her.

I remember the time I got to meet my Dad in Hawaii on the USS Hancock in Pearl Harbor. I was able to stay with him on the ship for 4 days. It was one of my most dearest memories.

I remember when I was about 6 or 7 yrs old, we went on a family outing at a river. We had a picnic, swam, fished and had a great time. When we were all packed up and ready to leave a woman was caught in the current and being swept downriver. My Dad jumped in and helped get her to safety. He has been my hero ever since.
