In Memory Of

William “Bill” W. Heflin age 66, of Helena

October 4, 1950 – January 20, 2017

Bill had a very colorful life with many different adventures.  With the exception of his son Luke, serving in the Marines was his proudest moment. “Once a Marine, always a Marine” he often said with a smile. He worked as a case worker with the welfare department, installed alarms for banks, and spent 18 months at the “Top of the world” in Tully Greenland controlling satellites, which he recently commented on how much top secret information he had access to. He also owned a bar in Monterey, California for a couple of years called Oaks which wasn’t always the best of times, but he could say he did it.

Bill loved music, especially Ray Charles and Joe Cocker and did a excellent rendition of “You Are So Beautiful.”

He moved to Montana with his son about 20 years ago from California and eventually was able to buy the trailer he currently lived in. Bill didn’t have lot of things, but he did have a lot of heart. He helped many friends in times of need. Bill was loved by many and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Bill is survived by his: son, Luke Heflin; father, Robert Wayne Heflin; sisters, Carol Meismer, Denise Nakamura; and 16 brothers and sisters in Missouri. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Fay Bryan, and brothers, James Martin and Thomas Heflin.

A graveside service in the committal shelter will take place Monday January 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Harrison. Please visit below to offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Bill.
