On the morning of Monday, September 14, 2015, Bill passed away peacefully in his home after a 2 year battle with cancer. Bill was 80 years old.
Bill was born June 24, 1935 in Helena, Montana to William and Barbara Hohn.
He grew up in Helena and later moved to Kalispell. He worked as a logger and owned a gas station there. After his first wife passed, he moved back to Helena and worked for the Fish Wildlife and Parks as a maintenance supervisor for many years at Canyon Ferry Lake.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and watching Carroll College football games to watch his grandson Dylan play. He loved spending time with his dogs most of all.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Donna Hohn; his stepdaughter, Donna Meagher; his stepson, Darwin Simac; and his nephew, Jeff Hoffman.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lavonne (better known as Grandma from Jackson Creek Saloon); three step children David Simac and his wife Chris, Dennis Simac and his wife Teresa, Debbie Mulcahy and her husband Mark; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special “thank you” to Wendy and Brenda at Rocky Mountain Hospice, Juan Garza, and Donna Culbertson for their help the last several weeks.
Bill requested that there not be a funeral, however, there will be a small gathering for friends and family at Chubbys Bar and Grill at a later date. Please visit below to offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Bill.

Got to know Bill when I was with the Operators Training. He had a great sense of humor and work ethic. I lot of people use things at Canyon Ferry that Bill had a hand in building. My condolences.

A sign above the shop door at Canyon Ferry read “Home of the Can Do Crew” and Bill was the leader of the pack. He was a hard worker, funny as could be and had a heart of gold. When our car broke down in Wyoming, Bill did not hesitate to help me out. I had not seen him in years and just about a month or so ago we ran into each other at Vans Thriftway, I feel fortunate to have had the chance to see and talk to him one last time. Thanks Bill for your friendship and all you did. My condolences to Lavonne and the family.

To all of Bill’s family,
all of us here at the hospital will miss seeing Bill with his 4 legged family. He was a friend and a great neighbor. He was one of the first to welcome Dr. Stav to the neighborhood. We’ll always remember his wave and smile when we would walk by his house. Please let us know if we can help in any way. Keith, Shar, Steve and the entire staff at Bridger Vet
