Winifred “Wini” Feldner, age 94, passed away June 16, 2011 at Aspen Gardens Assisted Living in Helena. Wini was born to Winifred and Douglas Gibb, both immigrants from England February 1, 1917 to Sanish, North Dakota.
She graduated from high school in Minot, North Dakota and attended Minot State College. Wini married Carl “Chuck” Feldner on May 1, 1939 in Helena. They lived in Radersburg for a short time, where Chuck worked on a gold mine dredge. Most of their married life was spent in Helena with the exception of Radersburg and seven years in Polson, where they owned and operated a Ben Franklin store. Wini was a store clerk starting in 1940 as a “Woolworth Girl.”
Wini’s favorite activities were spending time with grandchildren and having tea with friends. Wini has been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 1939.
Wini’s husband, Chuck, died on December, 1986. She is also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Colin and Gordon Gibb.
Surviving children include daughters, Sherry (Ken) Morrison of Helena, and Jeanie Hume of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Suzanne Mannella of Ankeny, IA, Kammie Takahashi of Allentown, PA, Nicki Bradley of Iowa City, IA, and Sean Morrison of Champaign, IL. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23rd at Aspen Gardens, House 9. The family is deeply grateful for the loving care Wini received at Aspen Gardens for the last five years.
