The sun was a little brighter on February 21, 1941 with the birth of Yvonne Faye.
Yvonne was born the daughter of Hazel and Jim Beards in Broken Arrow, Nebraska. Yvonne passed into the hands of her Lord the evening of December 7, 2017, relieving her of her terrible pain associated with diabetes.
Yvonne was practicing her new ability to walk when the attack on Pearl Harbor was announced to the American public. In 1945 with the world in turmoil and her mother’s marriage ending, Yvonne and Hazel moved to Helena, Montana. She was adopted shortly after her Mom was married to Harry Romasko starting a life of a busy and energetic child growing up in the post World War II era.
Yvonne progressed through grade school in Helena at Central Elementary and graduated from Helena Senior High School in 1959. Her Junior year she contracted rheumatic fever which caused her to be bed ridden for most of the school year. 1958 was the beginning of the “electronic age” and she was able to communicate with her high school by means of an intercom system between her classrooms and home. Yvonne’s heart was damaged from the disease which slowed her down for the remainder of her life.
Yvonne was joined in marriage to Charles Edward Knox after graduating. She and Ed left Helena for Palatine, Illinois so Ed could complete his education. Illinois was home to them for four years while Ed taught in the school district.
Their first child, Helen Marie, was born in 1961 opening a new life as parents. One year later they moved back to Helena where Ed continued teaching and working on opening his own photography studio. In 1964, Yvonne and Ed welcomed their second child, Charles Lewis, into the world, completing their family.
Ed opened “Knox Photography” with Yvonne being his “right hand” making it a very successful business for many years.
With Yvonne and Ed’s appreciation of flowers they opened and operated “The Flower Haus”. Yvonne had a talent for producing beautiful arrangements and bouquets. Their business includes “Knox Enterprises” which is still going strong today.
After Ed’s passing in January 19, 1994, Yvonne continued running “The Flower Haus” and “Knox Enterprises”. On September 14, 1996 Yvonne married Gene R. Giese starting the last chapter of her life. Gene adored Yvonne and unselfishly cared for her and enjoyed every minute they were together. Gene wants everyone to know that Yvonne was the most caring, loving and generous person he has ever known. They were truly molded together by their love for each other and by the love of their Lord.
Yvonne’s life was centered around her belief of her Lord. She truly believed in the power of prayer. She understood and could quote verses from the Bible with amazing ability and her faith gave her comfort and made her life complete.
Her generosity and sense of humor and beautiful smile will be missed by all.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her biological father Jim Beards, her husband Ed Knox and her adoptive father Harry E. Romasko, Sr. She is survived by her husband Gene Giese of Montana City, MT; daughter, Helen Marie (Brian) Abel of Broken Arrow, OK and grandchildren Charles “Charlie” Knox Abel and Rachel Marie (Joe) Rudin and great grandson Anthony Micah. Lew, Diana, Helen, Brian and families – I was so sad to hear about Yvonne’s death. For years she was like a mom to me. She and Ed were a big part of my life. She was loved by many and will be missed. My deepest sympathies! I’ll see her on “that beautiful shore”.
Much love,
Louise

Dear Gene, Louie, Helen, and all of the younger ones, my heart goes out to you now in this loss, may you find comfort in the Lord’s promises. I was shocked and heartbroken to hear of Yvonne going home. I did not know that she was suffering with diabetes and I wish I could have known that. Just today, Dick told me that he had seen the notice in the Independent Record. . Yvonne was the first person to befriend me after we moved to Helena and was perhaps the only real friend that I have ever had in Helena. We spent many hours together, living across the street from each other, and having children of the same ages. She was and will always be a big part of my life’s story. We shared our love for the Lord so many many times. I do believe it was a miracle of the Lord, that one day, rather than continuing on a trip as planned, I decided to turn around and go back to visit Yvonne instead, only to find Yvonne very ill and Ed very distraught over her frightening condition. Ed had called the doctors (plural, 3 of them) who had only given Ed cursory answers and told him to either get another doctor or to give her an aspirin and call him tomorrow. At that time I found Yvonne was unable to even sit up without passing out. It was late at night and , and not knowing what to else to do, in desperation I called Sister Elizabeth, a nurse, at her Home Health office, and she was in!! PTL!. (again the mercy of the Lord). I explained her how ill Yvonne was and she said, “this is really very serious, so don’t pay any attention to the doctors, take her to the hospital immediately”. So Ed and I lifted her into the car and raced to St. Peters Hospital. There they could find no pulse or blood pressure so immediately gave her cold IV’S ( they could not wait to warm them which caused her to shake terribly) and they rushed her into emergency surgery without even putting on a gown, which I am sure saved her life. Had she gone much longer, she would have died from the loss of blood. Praise God, He kept her here for close to 30 years longer to be with all of you. The Lord is kind and merciful isn’t He. God bless you all. Alida
