Alice Rosalie Fohn
January 15, 1942 to February 1, 2021
Alice was born in January of 1942 to Ernest and Ruth Eipper of Moline, Illinois. She grew up on the family farm in Illinois, and then the family moved to Boulder, Colorado. Alice graduated from Boulder High School and then went to cosmetology school. She worked in the Denver area until she met the greatest man ever.
Life really began when she met the love of her life on a blind date on December 30, 1966. Alice’s landlord insisted she go out on a blind date with a tall, handsome man. And Jack’s boss insisted that he meet this cute little redhead with great legs that lived next to his mom. Reluctantly, they agreed to meet. After dinner and dancing, Jack asked Alice for a second date, the next night, New Year’s Eve, and at midnight he proposed. Best. Blind date. Ever! Jack knew this was the most amazing woman for him. And he was right. Jack flew back to San Francisco where he’d been transferred. After ridiculous phone bills, five weeks later they were married, Jack always said he wished he’d met Alice sooner so they could have been together longer. With this marriage Alice gained two daughters, Michelle and Tracy.
Jack and Alice enjoyed living in the Bay Area, Portland and on to Seattle where Alice continued working as a beauty operator. They were the happiest couple that explored and spent fun times with friends. In 1972, jack was transferred to Helena and they moved with their 6week old daughter, Ema. They bought a family home and Alice worked as Jacks secretary. Two years later, they welcomed their second daughter, Jodel. Alice continued to work for Jack and then bought her own business in the early 1980s. Alice ran her business from her home so she could be there when her daughters came home from school. Alice was a successful business person and an incredible wife and mother. Having her own business allowed her to have a flexible schedule and always drive and chaperone for school field trips. The family enjoyed camping and traveling around Montana, the US and Canada.
Alice was an active member of Daughters of the Nile in Helena and Butte, a Past Worthy Matron of Josephine Hepner chapter of Eastern Star and a Past Grand Guardian of Jobs Daughters. Alice really enjoyed spending all of her time with her wonderful friends and they mean the world to her.
After Jack passed away in 2009, Alice continued to have a full life. Alice spent time with her Nile friends in Butte. Alice and Jodel traveled to England (where they had a private tour through Buckingham palace, complete with Champagne) Wales, Ireland (Where Alice climbed Blarney castle in her beautiful heels, and enjoyed many glasses of mead at Bunratty castle) Scotland, Hawaii, Grand Teton & Yellowstone NP, Seattle and many weekend trips around Montana.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents and husband Jack, and sister Ruth. Alice is survived by her daughters Ema (Pat) of Seattle Washington, Jodel of Helena, granddaughter Ela, furry companions Fred and Ginger, her favorite nephew Toby, daughters Michelle and Tracy and their families, and her sisters Marian Grahm and Helen Smith, both of Boulder Colorado.
Alice will be remembered for many wonderful things, most of all her love of high heel shoes and the happiness and love that Fred and Ginger brought her. We want to thank all of Alice’s friends who helped her over the last few years, Catherine, Lindsey, Jaime, Ashley, Cindy and Connie. Most of all her daughter Jodel Who made sure she truly lived every day and had lots of great memories. Jo made sure mom got to do things she never thought she’d get to do or see.
Your life is a blessing and your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
